I have heard the Eitr and Mimby twice, with a Magni 23 and a Vali 2. If you are using USB directly from the computer, the difference will be most noticeable. I found the reverb/nuances are different, each note seemed to be fuller and have more body. With the Eitr, I say any decently made cable...

From what I heard directly from Schiit, you should have the 4490.

I don't think it's normal although I don't own the Modi 2U, yet. Contact Schiit by email, they are very responsive. The last two times I emailed them they responded within a day.
