The Sennheiser HD800, Grado PS1000e, Beyerdynamic T1, and Hifiman HE560 all play up to 50 khz. Why design headphones to reproduce frequency ranges beyond 20khz if there is nothing there?

  Does anybody know what type of switch the above is called?  I cannot seem to find it in Mouser.  It is an audio flip switch, that is all I know, not enough info to find it in online. 

From what I understand switches are on or off, so there should be no degradation in the signal.  Am I right on this one?  I want to get a switch for my B22 build, but don't want to get anything which adds are takes out from the signal.

Okay so I measured impedence on my HE500 drivers to see how close it is to spec.  The specs say it should be 38 ohms, however I am getting 52 ohms. This seems very close to the HE6 impedence of 50 ohms.  Has Hifiman change the latest revision of HE500's? Mine is way out of spec, bought it new...

Basically i want to reterminate my IEM cable to a balance plug, but don't know if it has shared or separate ground wires. Any way of finding that out without having to cut open the cable? I have a multimeter, can that be used somehow?

I get the feeling they are being left behind especially in the high end products category.  They have not had an answer to the top end products from Sennheiser, Audeze, and Beyerdynamic.
