MrSpeakers ETHER C Review / Announcement - A New Closed-Back Planar Magnetic Flagship from MrSpeakers
If you can stretch I love the mojo + ether-c pairing. Use it at work with my iPhone w/ the apple camera connection kit. I've been seriously impressed by the mojo. Hard to believe the performance of the thing at 599. I'll be using it in the near future until I rebuild up the home setup.- Vanquisher

Metrum Acoustics Musette NOS R-2R DAC (2015) Discussion thread
Haha. Enjoy! I'll see if I can sell here if not i'll shoot the dealer a note about trade in and see where it goes. I'm switching up my whole setup at the moment so I'm back to square one looking for an amp.- Vanquisher

Metrum NOS Hex Flagship DAC
Looks like Metrum also has special pricing going on for the Menuet until Feb. Just got a Musette but I think i'll exchange for a Menuet. Also Hex prices seem to have gone down as well.- Vanquisher

I like it a lot. Its still fairly new and breaking in I assume it'll settle on its true colors in a weeks time or so. Decide to pull the trigger on it to see how I liked Metrum's NOS Signature. So I'll be using this for awhile, then I'll be ordering a Pavane that is how much I like it...- Vanquisher

Hifiman Edition X
Agreed. Hard to say if I want to get a WA5-LE or not. Probably pickup a GSX MK2 instead. Next move is a Pavane though. I want to get one more tube for this one and I think i'll be happy with it, tracking it down is the tough part. Have not heard HE-6 but not interested in playing with speaker...- Vanquisher

Hifiman Edition X
Thanks for the insight. Well I had the Xs for awhile, dunno something about it just made it feel more premium to me. Maybe the heft of it. I also agree on big and heavy for sure, you won't see me walking around in public with my XCs on. They are on the stand and stay there until I'm ready to...- Vanquisher

I mean I took it for what it was worth. I wouldn't ever think you'd drive these off an iphone. Just making an observation that I did try them on just my phone and it was decent. Something clearly not possible on a 560. I'd expect you'd be using something like an AK, FiiO, or Mojo. :). I did...- Vanquisher

I can get on board with the fact you can get a higher quality sound with less power required and more portable. Makes sense they did sound quite fine off just my iphone when I did try them. If portability isnt something you value I'd have a hard time recommending them over a 560 based on cost...- Vanquisher

Hifiman Edition X
I wouldnt say its better built than my 560. Same headband system which is functional but not great looking and I prefer the wood on the 560. Considering a nice pair of 560s goes for 550-600 here on the forum can you easily say its 3x better in every aspect to warrant paying 3x what you would...- Vanquisher

Metrum Acoustics Musette NOS R-2R DAC (2015) Discussion thread
Sure. A little early for me to give a good comparison for the Musette since it seems it truly does open up with time. Some initial impression was irDAC was quite good for the price, I mean real good. I'd say it competes at the DS Gungnir level. Truly a sonic bargin imo. It was a little noisy...- Vanquisher

Woo Audio WA6 + WA6SE: Tubes, Comments, Pictures, and Advice
560 is imo probably a significant upgrade. You can find a nice used one here for 500 or so. Shameless plug im selling my pair so if your considering it let me know If that's stretching 400i gets you most of the 560 for less. Good deals to be had here on the forum as well.- Vanquisher

What's your budget? Think that will drive the recommendations. No budgets aside I think HE560 would be good on the cheaper end. Lcd-x, ether or ether-c and the hex or hek would be good- Vanquisher

Schiit Gungnir DAC
I'd say +1 for the irDAC info here. Can echo the same feedback. GMB was much better. Unfortunately for my wallet I heard a Yggy though LOL. It really is that much better than GMB imo, although GMB in the price range is probably one of the tops. Only thing in the price range I heard I liked...- Vanquisher
