Just to chime in another thought, I find $20 a month reasonable for this reason. To buy one CD or SACD a month you will near or exceed this price. No one has access to everything out there to listen to. If something comes recommended to me, I'll give it a listen. That price will save me much...

That being said, please note this. I bought a mint, open box set from Razor Dog! for $700. That is easier to justify. The box is not perfect, but the cans are. The box is going to live in a closet, BFD.
