I don't have an S8 but in the past USB devices have never worked for me through USB-C - Micro USB adapters. I believe these adapters work for charging only.

Yes. My DFR definitely sounds much better (a thicker, fuller sound) out of a laptop than it does from an iDevice.

I've updated my CCK 3.0 and I don't hear any discernible difference with my DFR. I intentionally listened to a few of my favourite songs before and after to ensure I would notice any change to the sound.

I use a Bifrost w Gen2 USB (non Uber) + Asgard 2 to drive my HD650s. The sound is phenomenal. I planned to upgrade the analog board to Uber earlier but the sound is so good I'm hesitant to change anything.

Just picked up the Exynos version of this phone (N910U) and my first impression is that the sound output from the headphone jack is mediocre at best. So far I have tested my IEMs (RHA-MA750i), DT1350s, and HD598s. All three seem to be plagued by low output and flat lifeless sound when compared...
