Reply to review by 'mxroadie' on item 'Penon Leo Plus-IEM cable from Penon'
Would you describe this cable as having a organic and natural tone? Or is it towards the analytical and cold side? Specifically, I'm looking for a more mellow midrange and "wetter" sounding treble, while maintaining resolution.- mxroadie

Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP
My E01 module just got past the 100 hours mark and I’m starting to understand what @PhilW meant when he says this module performs better at a lower volume. If I have to summarise the key qualities of the E01, it would be 1. Maximum details extraction and presentation and 2. Articulation, all...- mxroadie

Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP
This. I have not heard similar separation and soundstage from another player. Every note is presented so powerfully without any harshness. Really allows you to push the volume.- mxroadie

Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP
Been considering the N6II for awhile now and finally bit the bullet today, after hearing the E01 module. Through my Hidition NT6, this module is quite a departure from A01 and T01. There is still a slight warmth to the sound to keep things musical but what hits you immediately is how clean and...- mxroadie

Android: Neutron Music Player
Thanks for getting back, @dmitrykos For me, the most noticeable difference comes from turning on the all to dsd (dsd64) function, more so than turning on 64-bit processing. That said, I managed to run Neutron on my Pixel 2 with the Hiby R5 as a USB DAC. With the much more powerful CPU on the...- mxroadie

Android: Neutron Music Player
Ah, that's new to me. Good to know. I don't use DSP, unless you count dithering? So I guess 32 bits is good enough, which will also allow me to use all to dsd128, which honestly sounds damn good to me. I used to be a bit perfect guy but man, Neutron is doing upsampling right. I agree and I...- mxroadie

Android: Neutron Music Player
Hi @dmitrykos I'm using Neutron on the Hiby R5 and I think the CPU is not able to handle Neutron with both "64 bits processing" and "all to DSD128" turned on. The music will start stuttering. So it would appear I have to choose between DSD128 and 64 bits. Which would bring more benefits...- mxroadie

R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby
Thanks! IA tracks are my go-to when testing iems and DAPs. The R5 is doing splendidly in this aspect. Blast beats are rendered beautiful, soundstage is deep and never gets congested no matter how chaotic it gets. Highly recommend you give Neutron (with 64 bits processing and all to dsd) a shot...- mxroadie

R5, a new Android DAP by Hiby
Has been thoroughly enjoying the R5 as well. Especially with Neutron with 64 bit processing and "All to DSD". Has anyone managed to have both 64 bit processing and All to DSD128 turned on at the same time. I suspect it's a limitation of the CPU but music will start stuttering on mine.- mxroadie

Norne Audio (Was: Norse Audio): Feedback & Impression Thread
Just received my Silvergarde SX and I want to share some pictures of this beauty. Trevor is truly a craftsman. This is with the Eidolic titanium 2.5mm jack and SXR splitter. Out of my Hidition NT6, the sound is more dynamic and fuller with a slight tinge of warmth. Despite notes being...- mxroadie

Agree. Pretty amazing what they achieved with a single 6mm DD. Outstanding clarity and separation, TWS or not.- mxroadie

There are two sets of volume controls. One within the Sony app and one that is system-wide, controlled by the volume clickers on your phone. Might want to ensure that the volume in the Sony app is not too low.- mxroadie

Been neglecting my main rig for the Sony's. TWS or not, the sound quality has been more than sufficient. Balanced with unexpectedly good resolution and incredibly musical. Love the musical direction Sony is taking since the launch of the IER-Z1R.- mxroadie

I wouldn't be too worried though. Only Qualcomm Bluetooth chips will get to use the AptX-series protocols. Sony's proprietary Bluetooth chipset is much like the H1 chip in Apple's Airpods - connects absurdly quick with extremely stable connection. While we might never know the actual...- mxroadie

Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP
This thing sounds like my iFi micro iDSD Black Label. Off the charts dynamism. Clean, detailed with just the right amount of warmth to prevent fatigue. Soundstage is not DX220 wide but definitely deeper with very good instrument separation. Love it. Edit: Transducer - universal Hidition NT6...- mxroadie

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)
Certainly cut from the same cloth. I think with the Waltz, Viento and NT6, Hidition has very firmly convinced the market of their technical prowess. With the Violet, they could afford a slightly less intense presentation. Don't get me wrong, the Hidition technical prowess is all there, just...- mxroadie

Toranku's Thoughts and Reviews (and target EQ filters!)
In terms of detail retrieval, I find them to be comparable with the Violet edging out with slightly more extension in the highs. The Violet has a more natural sounding bass with slight mid-bass bump, which also helps for a easier and fatigue-free listening. That said, I purchased the NT6 because...- mxroadie

Astell & Kern SR15: A&norma Impressions & Reviews
