HD600 cable upgrade (NewFantasia 1.5 meter)
Hey hey hey, I am a producer and just purchased the Sennheiser HD600 for mixing and mastering as it was available for a decent price on amazon. When doing studio work with my DT770s, I find myself constantly running over the chord with the chair at the mixing console. After further research...- theriseoftroy

Best set of cans under $150?
So I just received my XPT100s today, and I am pretty impressed, although they sound pretty tight. I will have to let them break in a bit before I develop an opinion... From what I can tell so far, vocals and woodwinds sound fantastic, but the bass is rolled off. When I connected my Fiio E12 they...- theriseoftroy

Old 'phones: Koss Pro-4a. Anyone have any info?
I just picked up a set of these for $9 at a Goodwill store. I couldnt resist the price. It will be interesting to see how they sound with a Mont Blanc and I am going to try to find new earpads if theyre worth it...- theriseoftroy

Best set of cans under $150?
Maybe I mis-read something... I think I will still be happy with the purchase. Soundstage is not my selling point, the quality of the sound is what matters to me. So with that considered, I think its a good can for me to add to my collection, especially for the price.- theriseoftroy

Best set of cans under $150?
Thank you all for the great responses. I think I will go with the XPT100s. I hear that they have a really great soundstage for a closed can. It will be interesting to compare them to my K550s... I purchased them from Sonix and they were $99 which I am fine with paying. I was looking at the...- theriseoftroy

Need help!
I do listen to quite a bit of electronic, but not much EDM. I think I will cross them off because of the over-emphasized bass... How are the v6s different from the prodj100s?- theriseoftroy

Need help!
I need help in deciding which set of cans to get. My current options are the MDR-V6/7506, T50rp, NVX Audio XPT100, Crossfade LP, and SE215. I listen to jazz, ambient, house, IDM, classical, hip-hop, and folk. Let me know what you think.- theriseoftroy

Best set of cans under $150?
Hello, all! I am looking for a set of headphones around $100-$150. I already have the AKG K550s, and the Beyerdynamic T90s. I listen to a lot of jazz, ambient, classical, acoustic, hip-hop, trip-hop, IDM, house. I will be powering these with a Fiio e12 Mont Blanc. I will mostly be using...- theriseoftroy

Thank you for those links, those were a great help. I decided to go with the E12 Mont Blanc, because it will have ample power for my 250 ohm Beyerdynamics. Troy- theriseoftroy

Best portable amp under 150?
Hi guys, I'm looking for an amp under the $150 price point. The products I have been looking at are the Fiio E07k, JDS Labs Objective 2, and the Fiio E12. Ill be using it to power a Beyerdynamic DT770 250 ohm, and an AKG K550. Any recommendations welcome. As usual, the cheaper the better. ...- theriseoftroy

Thinking of modding a set of Koss PortaPro instead of buying more expensive cans... Recommendations?
Im thinking of modding a set of Koss PortaPros instead of purchasing something a bit more expensive such as the Beyer DT770s or K701/K702/Q701. Any suggestions on headphones that may be a better option on mod recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I listen to jazz, IDM, ambient...- theriseoftroy

AKG K550 review - Essentially a closed-back K702 - literally.
I am attached to the K550. If you would like to read my review, here it is (http://www.head-fi.org/products/akg-k-550/reviews/10231). I have modded the ear pads and the cable and can post more info about how to do so if you would like me to. Troy- theriseoftroy

Best headphones under 400
I think I've come to the conclusion that the hp50/focal spirit are too small. Im not sure where to look at this point, I'm indecisively stuck in a gloomy IEM or Full-sized realm... Troy- theriseoftroy

Best IEMs around $300
I have been back and forth between IEMs and another pair of closed-back over-the-ear headphones for a few weeks now. After realizing that IEMs would be more practical for me, I had no clue as to what to look for. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I listen to lots of jazz, IDM...- theriseoftroy

Best headphones under 400
I have been looking at these. They look great and seem like they are built like rocks. To be honest though, at this point I am more leaning toward IEMs unless persuaded otherwise. I will look more into the MDR 7520s though. Troy- theriseoftroy

Best headphones under 400
Thanks for the info, Roy. I have a portable Fiio E18 Kunlun amp that I use to power my K550s, maybe that would power the Mad-Dogs as well? I do adore my K550s but I need another set of closed cans to give me a point of contrast. Troy- theriseoftroy

Best headphones under 400
Its good to hear that they are comfortable. I am unsure if they will fit my large ears though! Hearing from multiple sources that large ears don't fit in the ear-cups shies me away from looking into purchasing them. Maybe I should go give some a test at a retailer. Troy- theriseoftroy

Best headphones under 400
Chris, I remember hearing good things about the ATH ESW9 in another thread. Maybe I'll give those a look. As for HiFi-man, I have heard the He-400s and I'm not too big of a fan. Their colossal size is really what drives me away. I had also purchased the RE-600 IEMs from HiFi-man and...- theriseoftroy
