Buying portable or in-ear headphones? Seeking guidance? DON'T START A NEW THREAD. Ask for advice HERE!
I also am seeking guidance. I'm going to college, so I need a portable umamped with same sound sig as DT880 with a bit more bass punch and subbass extension. Needs to look good and be comfortable (no sweating). Hip-hop/Rnb @192kbps.- Dylan Yamazaki

K167 vs Q701
Do you know anyone who's down to mod the cup surface of a K167? I hate the plastic. Leather, metal, hell, even wood would work. Digging the alu circumference though.- Dylan Yamazaki

Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R
Hey, I'm interested in the BT. Seems like it beats out all of its competition: MM550 is extremely bulky just like the Zik and UE9000 (too bassy), AKG needs to work on SQ, Klipsch is too bassy, and we don't need to talk about Beats. Are these comfortable and light? Do they provide nice isolation...- Dylan Yamazaki

[REVIEW] Logitech UE9000 - Ultimate Ears HEADPHONES Released! The UE4000, UE6000 and the UE9000 - Impressions Thread
Thanks so much miceblue. Unfortunately, I feel like quitting on this set. I had heard that it was comparable to the M50s in sound quality, comfort, and isolation. But if that's not so AND if the bass is already more than the Executives, build quality only a little better than the dangerously...- Dylan Yamazaki

[REVIEW] Logitech UE9000 - Ultimate Ears HEADPHONES Released! The UE4000, UE6000 and the UE9000 - Impressions Thread
Quote: Thanks, guys. How about compared to the P5 and the Beats at the Apple Stores? I'd say those have way too much bass. You can't even hear the mids (Beats). And this is coming from a teen who listens to hip-hop and rnb.- Dylan Yamazaki

[REVIEW] Logitech UE9000 - Ultimate Ears HEADPHONES Released! The UE4000, UE6000 and the UE9000 - Impressions Thread
Hey guys, how does the UE6000 compare to M50? I hear that the 6000's bass is like a Beat's bass. If so, I quit. Else... I hear isolation isn't all that great, but still acceptable. Is that true? Is it good for hip-hop/rnb/soul? And the AKG Tiestos seem like a direct competitor for these.- Dylan Yamazaki

AKG K167 TIËSTO - Discussion, Impression, Review & Appreciation Thread
Quote: PFULMTL, you are awesome. So it has tighter bass, but how about the quantity of the bass? As a semi-basshead, I tried the MDR1, and although they looked better than most Sony cans, their bass reminded me of Beats'. Honestly. Of course, I only auditioned them for 5 min, but I...- Dylan Yamazaki

Quote: I. WILL. BE. WAITING. for your unamped experience regarding bass quantity. My ANC7 gives me headaches occasionally with its high mid-bass and low sub-bass. Are the K167s like this? Actually, I'd expect it to be at the HE-400 level. How does it compare, disregarding isolation?- Dylan Yamazaki

Quote: RPGWiZaRD, have you tried any of these unamped? Has anyone tried these unamped? I need to know how the bass quantity on an unamped K167 compares to an unamped M50, unamped PRO900, and unamped D2k. BTW I think unamped M50s have slightly excessive bass, so there's a reference point...- Dylan Yamazaki

Quote: miowwww, I probably won't be carrying an amp around college, so how does the mid-bass quantity do without one? Now that I know the bass isn't muddy and has sub-bass, I'd like to know about the mid-bass quantity, unamped. How about compared with D2k, PRO900, M50? And you guys can go...- Dylan Yamazaki

I agree totally with everything, except that these aren't M50 replacements; they're in the league above M50. D2k range? I certainly interpret it so. Someone even mentioned PRO900. So basically it's in the top 5 for under $1000 closed cans. That's basically excluding that $2499 Fostex . Can...- Dylan Yamazaki

AKG K167 TIËSTO - Discussion, Impression, Review & Appreciation Thread
Quote: I guess the main reason I don't look into the K67s is that my supra-aural ESW9As bite at my ears so painfully that I get a bad impression on supra-aurals. As for bass quantity, anything between DT880 and M50 levels is passable. Tightness...as long as it's not as muddy as the P5 it's...- Dylan Yamazaki
