9th Calgary Headfi Meet! Sept 8 2013
I'm curious as well if anyone is interested in "lower end" gear, source etc. Wondering if it makes sense to bring my stuff: Sources: Macbook without any HD files - about 50% CD Rip AIFF and 50% 320k MP3 iPod Video and iPod Classic DACs: Schiit Bifrost optical only (harder to bring as...- CanadianNoob

[VIDEO] Portable High-end Headphone Amp Guide
Thanks for making the video. It was a good overview of these options. I have a question about balanced vs single ended. For an amp like the ALO RX is there a noticeable difference in sound between the balanced output and the single ended output on the same amp? How does it differ? e.g...- CanadianNoob

post your grado mods....
I have a super basic question that probably isn't worthy of this thread - but I'm guessing you guys can help. I have a pair of SR60i's that I modded thanks to this thread by removing some of veiling and using felt inside the plastic. I also added the larger cushions which seem to sound...- CanadianNoob

Cardas Ear Speakers delayed but worth the wait!
After listening for more than a week I think I spoke to soon on the bass. It still seems a little loose to me and I haven't yet picked up an amp to see if there is any improvement. BUT... the truth is I no longer really notice. With these iems I find myself just getting sucked into the...- CanadianNoob

Quote: If it isn't too much trouble to bring them I would definitely be interested in hearing the Audioengine D1 and the ATH-M50s. They are both items I have considered purchasing.- CanadianNoob

Cardas Ear Speakers delayed but worth the wait!
I gave both the white and blue tips a good listening session and personally prefer the blue. It's not that I find the bass over-powering - I actually really like the overall sound signature - I just find it a little loose. When there is a complex bass line it seems to have trouble keeping...- CanadianNoob

Cardas Ear Speakers delayed but worth the wait!
Just purchased a pair of these from Todd R and received them yesterday. Listened for a good long session last night and again today while working. Initially I was a little disappointed but they are steadily growing on me. Particularly as I skew my listening towards my higher resolution files...- CanadianNoob

Haute Schiit! Bifrost is world's most affordable fully upgradable DAC
I've had a bifrost running for about a month now in my main listening room. I can not get over how much it has improved with burn in! I have always been skeptical of burn in on solid state electronics - but it's real to me now. The sound is warmer, more detailed and has better imaging. Amazing!- CanadianNoob

ALO The National is a work of art - check it!
Has anyone compared the National to an O2? I recognize the National has advantages in battery life and form factor that make it more portable - but curious on a performance/sound quality comparison if anyone has heard both and can share their thoughts.- CanadianNoob

This looks like maybe an inactive thread. But I'm interested in understanding the difference between the RXMkII and the National. I am also considering an O2 or C421. I use am iPod classic as a source and will be using grades in the living room and mad dogs in the office. Any recommendations or...- CanadianNoob

The GRADO SR-60 Impressions Thread
Looks like this is a fairly in-active thread - but I've got a question. SR60s are my headphone of choice for home right now. Not sure if this is the best thread for this post - but taking a shot someone might have some advice for me. I have SR60i's that I really enjoy. **Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**
Any suggestions on a portable or "transportable" amp for the mad dogs? My source will be ipod classic 7g playing lossless files. I have been considering C421, O2 and E11. Not too concerned about price. I emailed jdslabs and they recommended going with the O2. But the headfonia review has me...- CanadianNoob
