New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
Small update. Just got my balanced cables from Trevor at Norne and they are gorgeously put together. Got the Rag hooked up to the PWD MkII with balanced lines now. I would like to confirm that the use of all balanced DAC --> Rag definitely does increase volume potential. My...- AlphaChicken

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
Currently listening to Apollo Brown - Clouds (Album) on my q701s over SE and have had the amp on since around 10 this morning. Chain used: PC (Foobar2k WASAPI event) -> PWD MkII (USB) -> Ragnarok (SE Cable) -> AKG q701 (SE) I am having a supremely enjoyable time. These headphones are...- AlphaChicken

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
I just want to give my impressions with the gear I am using and see what others have experienced with the speaker side of the amp. Anyone else using speakers? And what volume levels do you need to get em pumpin' well? So one thing I notice is that for the vinyl transfers I listen to, I have...- AlphaChicken

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
Yeah, I mean as a headphone amp exclusively (or a tube preamp) I have never really had too much use for adjustable gain. Unless the gain function allows you to lower the gain. The little beast drives headphones ridiculously loud, and I have never topped out the volume pot since owning it. =]- AlphaChicken

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
Just got everything in the mail yesterday and setup. Getting used to everything. Sounds pretty decent with the cheap Sony speakers i've owned for years. Cannot really post too much about sound as my balanced cables have not come yet for PWD mkII -> Rag and from Rag -> LCD-2s. Running fully...- AlphaChicken

Thank you! This is exactly the clarification I was looking for. =] Do all headphones with 2 headphone-end connections behave in the same way as the LCD-2s?- AlphaChicken

I assume that he knows what he is talking about... I love Trevor. Super helpful dude. I was not asking Head-Fi about Trevor though... I was asking about what Trevor said, since I am sure he is busy selling cables and running his business.- AlphaChicken

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
Can you clarify what is in bold? And just so that I understand, the LCD-2 will run with a balanced cable without modification? Is this running in truly balanced mode or is it just that the headphones are using a balanced cable and running in SE? I am still concerned about the q701s. I...- AlphaChicken

New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil
Just placed my order for a Rag! Very excited. At this moment I only have stock LCD-2's, stock q701s, and a pair of Polk audio RTI A3 speakers. I was wondering how nicely the Rag plays while running headphones SE. If I wanted to hook up my q701s and LCD-2s using the 4-pin XLR connection...- AlphaChicken

Woo WA2 Tube Rolling Recommendations
I am thinking about getting a WA2 to go with my PS Audio PWD mkII, LCD-2's, and future HD800s that I plan to get. Does anyone have experience with HD800 and this amp? I was gonna get WA22 but it is so expensive...to save or not. I already have a pair of tele E88CCs that I bought for my Lyr...- AlphaChicken

Charlotte, NC Meet: April 19th 2014
When is the date been set to? I have a PWD Mk II, a Lyr (Tele E88CC; Mullard Tooled Matsush ita E88CC; the stock JJs; 6CG7 RCA Cleartop), AKG q701s, and LCD-2.2s. I would love to make it, still trying to figure out if I am going to be back in NC at that time.- AlphaChicken

Foobar 2K and sample rate switches - leaves audio cut off after switch.
I suppose it is a "problem" with my hardware, however, its hard to call the PWD Mk II a problematic DAC. I could upsample everything with my DAC, but then wouldn't I loose the "digital lens" feature that makes the PWD mkII's USB so great? I just wish foobar could send the sample rate...- AlphaChicken

Foobar 2K and sample rate switches - leaves audio cut off after switch.
Ok so I am having problems with Foobar. I have a DAC that handles multiple sample rates and switches between them based on the sample rate of the source material. In Foobar I am using WASAPI even style, and have all DSP settings turned off. The problem I am experiencing is when I play a...- AlphaChicken

Hiromasa Suzuki Trio - Primrose [2008]
Hiromasa Suzuki Trio - Primrose [2008] I am looking for this CD. Does anyone know where I can get a copy? When I search the internet, all that comes up are links to mp3s. I searched the site of the record label that printed it and it is out of print.- AlphaChicken

Sweet thank you very much for your replies. Saves me a lot of money that I thought I might need for stuff such as Audiophilleo, etc. :D Good to know that the PWD MkII is as good standalone as it can get for the most part. :)- AlphaChicken

Well, I got a barely used PWD Mk II from a user on these forums for a great price. So far, I am loving the hell out of it using USB from my mac book pro, using Audirvana for a music player. I have a PC back home in NC--I am living in UT right now--that I really want to bring out to UT...its my...- AlphaChicken

Schiit Lyr - The tube rolling thread
I am wondering if there is a tube that livens up the treble, airiness, soundstage, and sparkle of the LCD-2s without mucking up the rest of the sound spectrum. Maybe this is a lot to ask, I'm not sure though.- AlphaChicken
