    New Speaker Suggestions

Is that mouse a Logitech MX1000? It looks just like my mouse. The other question I have is speaker stands. I don't have the desk real-estate for speakers any larger than my current ones. Does the shelf on the speaker stands need to be at least the same size as the speaker, or can it be a...

    New Speaker Suggestions

I'm thinking of getting a pair of Paradigm Mini monitors, but I'd like some suggestions. I mainly listen to prog rock, with some of it leaning towards metal (Pre-Train of Thought Dream Theater). A few other examples of stuff I listen to are Transatlantic, Porcupine Tree, Yes, Marillion, The...

    Vista's Sound

When I use Vista and want to listen to a CD while there is network activity(totally unrelated to audio), there is a lot of popping and other distortion. I thought this was weird, so I looked it up, and apparently the Vista audio stuff and the Vista network stuff don't play well together. It...

Apple Lossless >> variable bitrate for Foobar

Since hard drives cost about $0.20/GB($100 for 500 GB HDD), why not stick with lossless? I made the switch a little while back, and couldn't imagine going back to using lossy formats.

Would that receiver work well with Polk Monitor 30's(available for $150)? Is there another speaker anybody would suggest for <$150?

What OS do you run: XP, Vista, Linux, Mac?

I absolutely love my Mac Pro. I triple boot OS X, Vista Business X64, and Kubuntu Feisty, and spend 98% of my time on OS X. Some of you might call it the "Apple Way" but I always have tons of things open at any one time spanned across 2 x 19" widescreen LCDs, and I love being able to switch...

    Looking to purchase a receiver.

I've been looking at a receiver and speakers to get. For the receiver, I'm considering going with an Onkyo home theater receiver with optical-in, because the DAC in the receivers is better than the one on my onboard Realtek audio chipset, so I could pass the digital signal right from my computer...

My budget is < $115, and as of now I'm thinking of going with Sennheiser HD555s. These headphones are meant as computer speaker replacements and will be worn for long periods of time, so comfort is very important. I listen to a wide range of stuff, from Holst, Dvorak, and Borodin, to Joe...

    Mac Pro Line-Out quality.

I'm looking at getting a good pair of headphones to use with my computer. Can the Mac Pro adequately power headphones with 120Ω impedance, or would I need to get a pre-amp or external sound card?
