Question: Why bother buying NC headphones when you can use noise isolating headphones without sibilance and loss in sound quality? Is it just for blocking noise when you are not listening to anything?

I believe that Sony MDR-1RNC is way ahead in the sound department than Bose, although it falls a bit behind Bose for noise cancellation. Also the comfort I believe is a tie for both.

Do you mean sibilance by white noise?, if so try Sony hybrids or Sony noise isolation earbuds which isolates better and reduce sibilance. Sony noise isolation tips are not sold separately you would have to buy an earphone to get the tips like Sony XBA 10 or Sony MDR XB60EX which costs around...

Has anyone ever noticed even a slight amount of sibilance on IE 80s, if so how much would you rate it on a scale of 1 to 10?   My IE 80 box doesn't have a QR code and hence cannot authenticate my phones on Sennheiser website.
