I managed to break off the part above the last black ring on the jack and I need a time machine. But since I can't find one of those right now I'll need some DIY. I was hoping it would be fine to just superglue the tip back on. Seems simple enough. Has anybody tried it with good results?

I've tried the original Momentum, not really a fan. I can't explain it but I find them artificial sounding and not so easy to listen to. I ended up opting for the Beyerdynamic DT-250 which I'm very happy with. I guess I prefer flat headphones.

thanks for the reply and it would be nicer but it would require more work whilst also voiding the warranty (it's only a week old!) and if anything goes wrong, the headphone itself would still remain in good condition.

Ill Al Scratch - Creep Wit Me (1994) is pretty cool, not as dark like the ones you listed but worth a spin.   but It would be easier to recommend if you had a full list of albums/artists that you've already got.

Hey I think this song is great and enjoy contemporary R&B too. I'm not criticizing your choice of music at all, but the way you immaturely dismiss other types of music.

Thanks to to this thread I'm now the happy owner of a pair of DT-250s. They're really comfortable for me even with the tight grip which I'm pleased with. Nice flat, clean sound with surprisingly tight, deep bass. :D

I disagree with the statement that they have a similar sound signature.they're both pretty mainstream, don't you have some stores nearby where you can demo both?

I may have tried them along with the SRH940 but I don't remember (I'll check tomorrow). If I did I wasn't too impressed but if not I'll give them a listen, I'd hate to lose much detail but the price difference and bass boost might sway me. Do you know how the soundstage and instrument separation...

But I love to be able to hear crisp treble and details too but I guess you can't have it all... I had the DT770 80 ohms for a couple weeks and while I enjoyed them, they left me wanting more.

Okay thanks for replies guys. So do you think I should make it clear that I'm not looking to buy anything if the staff begin to ask questions that shows that they're under the impression that I'm looking to do more than just listen?

  Thankfully I do live near one (and what I think is the best in the country). But my question is: is it okay to go in and try out everything I'd like for an hour or so, maybe take some advice from the staff there and then just leave without making a purchase?

I'd like to go to a demo room where both very expensive and more affordable headphones will be available to test out, but the store have higher than average prices so I wouldn't dare spend my money there. How do you feel about this? (p.s. sorry if this is not the best place to post this)
