Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
lmao, I'll have to remember that one. Wow, congratulations on the K10! Your journey is actually quite similar to mine, except I never purchased the IEM's, I just demo'd them. I was about to buy the Westone 4 when the Heir 4.A came out. I listened to the 4.Ai, loved it and...- zloy loup

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
Holy cow, the C4 sounds like a dream come true. I have the Heir 4.A and the 5khz dip really comes out in classical. In fact, I think I might be one to like a 5khz bump. But I got the 4.A for $450, and these are $700. Am I really going to have to do this again? Curse you, upgradeitis!- zloy loup

[POLL] Need help deciding on a pair of Mid Range IEMS [100-200 Dollars]
Quote: Your new favorite? I haven't heard the Yamaha, but from what people say they are a touch bass-heavy. EDIT: I see the Ortofon seems to lack strain relief at the shells. What do you think about that?- zloy loup

[POLL] Need help deciding on a pair of Mid Range IEMS [100-200 Dollars]
Quote: Agree with this. The soundstage on them is decent for the price, but not much more than that, I think. For my electronic music it worked quite fine though. It was the classical I was having issues with. :) They also seem to have quite a solid build, but I haven't tested...- zloy loup

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
Quote: You're right about that and I agree with you. I don't think I phrased that quite well, so let me restate my opinion more elaborately. I think overall clarity is about two things: neutrality across the spectrum and definition of every frequency range. The Westone 4 beats the...- zloy loup

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
Quote: Same thing here. W4 has more treble presence than the UM3x, how can it have less clarity? To me the UM3x sounded muffled in complex passages... Maybe I need another listen to compare them more closely.- zloy loup

IEM for under $150
Quote: You can get the EPH-100 for good amounts of bass. The impedance is pretty low, too, so you should be able to crank it up.- zloy loup

Need IEM recommendation (~$150 budget)
Quote: If the SE215 has lush mids and tame highs, you'll get none of that on the GR07. It's very neutral. The highs aren't excessive but they definitely aren't recessed. The mids are ever so slightly on the dry side. The bass is, just like everything else, neutral.- zloy loup

Need IEM recommendation (~$150 budget)
Quote: I haven't listened to headphones that would fit what you are looking for, but the DBA-02 seems to be pretty analytical with some bass presence. Or do you want something with emphasized bass?- zloy loup

IEM for under $150
Quote: I have listened to both the GR07 and the RE262, this is a (slightly modified) copy-paste of my impressions of both of them: The sound of the RE262 itself is very specific. Before I tried this headphone I honestly considered myself to be a midhead, but now I'm not...- zloy loup

How to define "sound quality"?
Quote: Well, a good portion of my own orchestral/classical music, and something I really like testing 'phones with, are compositions created by the composer Joe Hisaishi. They are all very good for testing soundstage. Many of the recordings also have sounds like turning pages, breathing...- zloy loup

Need IEM recommendation (~$150 budget)
Quote: I don't know, I haven't listened to the SE215. The store that lets you audition headphones has one unfortunate downside: it doesn't have a lot of headphones in stock (read: it doesn't have every single headphone in the world in the small room it occupies). From your description...- zloy loup

How to define "sound quality"?

Need IEM recommendation (~$150 budget)
Quote: I think you should try them out. If you're in the US, Amazon returns should be cheap, in case you don't like them. The sound signature is mid-centric, and I found the bass to be quite pleasant in texture. Just be wary of the sub-bass roll off, if that's important to you. The...- zloy loup
