Well RobotsEatCookies,i am quite in the same situation as yours ,so i subscribe.
I dont have any custom ,but i am looking for my very first pair too.At the moment for what i can afford really there is not much choice,and the model that apparently suits me is the V3 which seem to be neutral with a touch of warmness,anyway i am gonna wait a little more to see how the V6 compare to it!

I was in the same situation and i chose the Merlins
it was my first ciem and i gotta say id choose the merlins again without hesitation

This is a tough one!  Hopefully Aurisonics release a generic version of the AS2 some time.  That would be quite complimentary as a universal.
