Hifiman HM901S New Flagship DAP
I also upgraded my 901 to the 901s. I'm pleased with the improvement, aside from the better case, scroll wheel and volume control, the sonic signature has improved detail, soundstage without sacrificing the natural, flat frequency response of the 901. I've been using the IEM card with UE PRM's...- DavidNY

HM-901
Suggestion for those of you who just got a HM-901 and want to burn it in. Remove the battery, insert the charger, hold the on/off switch in the UP position until it begins the boot up process, it could take 10-20 seconds. You should be good to go.- DavidNY

Reference Recordings
Reference Recordings doesn't do rock. Just off beat audiophile recordings. They do however have a few gems in their modest catalog. Try Dick Hyman's From The Age Of Swing. Music from the 1935-1940 period. Seven musicians, unamplified wonderfully recorded sound. If your toes aren't tapping to the... -

Brahms Symphonies and Concerti
Attended Rattle and the BPO performing Brahms 1st Symphony last night at Carnegie Hall. Live music is always just so amazing. The sound of the BPO is so impressively smooth, 130 musicians acting as one, and the power of the sound they can create is quite exhilarating. I now must purchase the CD... -
Life-like sound
Check out the commentary on this link. Lots of flaming but some well written comments on how impossible it is to re create a live music event at home. Let's Call The Whole Thing Off, Pt. III? BAlabo BC-1 Mk-II Control Amplifier and BP-1 Mk-II Power Amplifier | AVguide My take on this...- DavidNY

Finite Elemente Resonator
I own a Finite Elemente Master Pagode equipment rack which has multiple resonators built into the rack. Immediately upon installation I could hear a very noticeable change in my stereo system. For example on an orchestral piece, the harshness of the string section disappeared creating a clearer... -

Check out this link Home Page And click on the 7 links under Digital Playback heading on the lower lfet corner of the page. A lot to read but this may give you some appreciation for a few of the issues involved in how a CD player works. I think there is a misconception about CD play...- DavidNY

Aftermarket cables for electrostatic headphones
As a former HE90 owner I investigated recabling options. The answer is it's a custom job, and becasue of the delicate connections to the headphones most people are not interested in recabling. To much risk of damage. In my experience, cables do make a difference. But there are plenty of... -

Going to my first Mahler concert soon!
I was at Carnegie Hall last night as well. In summary it was a great venue (there's not a bad seat in Carnegie), a great conductor, a great orchestra with a strong historical tradition to Mahler, and a great symphony. A truly memorable experience. No recording or playback system can truly... -
Apogee Digital Cable
I have used Apogee Wyde eye digital cable (both S/PDF and AES/EBU (balanced). Supposedly used in professsional applications and quite reasonably priced. But I have discovered that this cable has a very dark sound signature. I am currently using Kubala Sosna Anticipation digital cable in my home... -
