Thanks for the advice! I ended up disconnecting everything and swapping out the tubes. After I plugged everything back in, voila! Amp sounded great. Very happy especially since I'll be going to RSD this weekend and have a few serious listening sessions coming up.

HD 25's are my go-to phones for metal and punk. I find them fast, nice bass response, and the limited soundstage is fine 'cause there's a de-emphasized soundstage in the recording/production of a lot of this music anyways. Second on considering Grado 60's...I really like Grados for rock and hip hop...I recently got the DT880 600ohm's. Like 'em but they don't have the lively-ness or aggressiveness of Grados (at 4x the price). Not familiar w/ the Senns so can't speak to those.

Yep- that's exactly my set-up for listening in my studio...sometimes run thru a Go-Vibe lil' amp, but the 25's sound really good unamped from the Nano.  The cool thing is, they sound just Awesome run thru my big Woo amp too.  A great pair of cans.

ha, thanks captouch!  It is indeed stamped correctly...missed that.  It's such a different sound sig. than I'm used to that it would've bothered me to not know what I was actually listening to.  I'm psyched to have some serious sessions in the next week and see if they continue to grow on me.  

I just received my first pair of dt880 600 ohm Beyers.  I got them through Amazon Warehouse Deals which means I saved $60 but it was an opened box that had supposedly been returned and couldn't be sold as New anymore.  Only prob. is that I've found no way to verify that they are actually the 600...
