Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review
I'd love to, but I don't want to mess with the stock pads. I'm going to try to replicate the inner plastic by cutting some crafting plastic into the same shape. We'll see how it goes.- Stig-san

Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review
I just got my Dekoni eggshell prottein padz in the mail and slapped them on. I have to say they really changed the sound for me. They sucked out a lot of the bass and pushed the high into sibilant territory. They are WAY more comfortable to wear, but I don't think I'll be leaving them on...- Stig-san

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?
I just slipped the dt250 pads on. They don't really fit maybe because I've had them on a different pair of headphones, maybe they are actually too big. I think you could put some electrical tape around them to make them seal up better. As far as sound (i had to hold them in place) it sounds...- Stig-san

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?
The dt250 pads had a huge and very positive effect on the hfi-780s I out them on. I let my friend use them for a while on the some m50s but I didn't listen to them much. We'll see what they do when put in the hp50s when I get a chance.- Stig-san

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?
Well, that didn't take long. The elastic part on the back of the HM5 pads are just too big for the lip on the NADs. Even if they did fit, the pads are SUPER thick and would undoubtedly mess with the sound in unfavorable ways. I'll give the dt250 pads a try when I get a chance. They are much...- Stig-san

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?
I happen to have the HM5 velour pads on a pair of ATH-M50s. I can do a quick swap and see what happens. Just as a note though, they put the M50s too far away from the ears and everything sounds weird, so that may happen with the NADs too. I also have the beyer dt250 velours...- Stig-san

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?
Cool. I'm out of town this week with them, so I'll give them some burn in time when I get back home. Also, these things have a bit a an odd fit and sound a little different with glasses on. I didn't notice it until I took them off and the bass came in harder with the better seal. I'm torn...- Stig-san

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?
It's probably a function of one's ears/brain and the headphones that one has listened to in the past. I think I've always preferred my highs a bit toned down or deemphasized (HD555, MD, AD with one disk, DN1k to some extent). That's the main reason I don't really care for the 780s.- Stig-san

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?
I just picked up a pair of NADs today from Amazon. Took me a while, but I finally went for it. I was looking for a replacement for my Ultrasone HFI-780s and I haven't been disappointed so far. They are in every way better than the 780s I think. That being said, I used to own the MDs as...- Stig-san

MrSpeakers Alpha Dog Revealed! - The World's First Production 3D-Printed Headphones
Hello all you Alpha Dog/Prime peoples, I've been loving the Alpha Dogs through my Fiio E17/E09K setup. I've just grabbed a Lyr based on what I saw on this thread; it sounds like a worthy upgrade. However, I can't convince myself that getting another DAC is worth even the $100 I might drop...- Stig-san

Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction
Yeah, I've been reading up on a set of IEMs to see what I think would fit my taste. I've always disliked the way IEMs fit (they tend to fall out of one of my ears), but my friend just got some Shure SE215s (I think) for Christmas and I love the over the ear fit of those things. What I didn't...- Stig-san

Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction
I'm trying to decide between the VSonic GR07 Mk2 and either the ATH-IM50 or IM70 to replace my Koss Portapro. I know the drivers are different and give a bit of a different sound signature, but I like what I'm hearing about the quality of sound coming from both of these. If anyone has a...- Stig-san

mod: Monoporice 8323
The ATH-M50s are definitely the better cans. They are much better out of the box, more comfortable, better bass...pretty much everything asdfqwerty said. BUT, they are $150+ depending on where you get them and which version you get compared to $30 shipped and maybe some other materials for mods.- Stig-san

mod: Monoporice 8323
Just picked up these headphones to replace my slightly broken Koss Portapros. I gotta say, they surprised me right out of the box, but the mids and highs were too grating to me. The bass was just right but felt a bit uncontrolled. I tried adding the tape over the vents, the tape on the...- Stig-san

Soundstage mod for Sennheiser HD-555/595 (Re-Mastered)
I've had my pair of 555s for more then a year now and have loved them oh so much. I've been thinking of doing this mod for a few months and was deterred by the fact that I couldn't go back if I didn't like what I heard. I then took the suggestion above to just take the drivers outside the...- Stig-san

Found a pair of 1972 Pioneer SE-30A for $10
Quote: The biggest problem I read about with these are the leather pads deteriorating over time, but these are in perfect condition; no cracks to speak of. They aren't as heavy as the Koss HV/1s I have...and they actually work :D I could see these getting a little heavy after a few...- Stig-san

Found a pair of 1972 Pioneer SE-30A for $10
Quote: Yeah, the case is really cool. I didn't see that anywhere else. There is foam inside each of the earcups. Is this helping or hurting the overall performance of the headphones?- Stig-san

Found a pair of 1972 Pioneer SE-30A for $10
I found these things today at a local thrift store and couldn't resist that classic charm. They came with the original manual, a product catalog, a bottle of record cleaner, and a nice faux leather case. Here are some pictures of them: The sound is not bad. The...- Stig-san

Asian music (Chinese, Japanese, Korean)

Asian music (Chinese, Japanese, Korean)
Quote: http://www.myspace.com/sansojubai There is sansojubai for ya. That's two songs from the three on the only album which I know they did. I really am into those scenes heavily, but I prefer Japanese bands in that area most of the time. A lot of purely post rock western bands... -
Asian music (Chinese, Japanese, Korean)
Well, I read through about 10 pages of this thread and saw absolutely nothing that I listen to, so I thought I'd sign up (just so I could post for this) and coat your ears in my favourite Japanese music. Some of my all time favourites with a few videos. I really suggest you check out the rest...
