Schiit Lyr - The tube rolling thread
First post in this thread, just got a used Lyr, it had the stock JJ tubes, I picked up a set of 6CG7 RCA clear tops and rolled them in, things seem to be a bit clearer, got to figure out what to try next that's not to expensive.- Starfire

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out
Just a general inquiry, I have a CNC router and had given thoughts to making wooden cups for the HE-400's, they wouldn't be to bad to design, I doubt they would have much effect on sound, but more for appearance (I don't like the blue) would anyone even be interested in them?- Starfire

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out
I have the latest drivers, I did not remove the foam. Don't get me wrong they are awesome headphones, the HE-400s just seem more open to me, like I'm sitting in a room listening to music. I have been driving them both with a Gamma2 for source and O2 for amp, though I did just pick up a...- Starfire

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out
Quote: Best I can describe is the HD650's are great headphones but to me they sounded like headphones, while the HE-400's sound more like listening to speakers, I'm sure that has to do with the drivers presenting a flatter wave more like a speaker. I also find the HE-400's to have less of...- Starfire

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out
Just sold my HD650s for the HE-400's and have no regrets, these phones are awesome to say the least. I love the clarity and the bass, but most impressive to me is the huge increase is soundstage! I am sold on planar magnetics. Running them like so: FLAC -> Coaxial Gamma2 -> O2 ->...- Starfire

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
I don't notice vocals tending to one side or the other. Also I don't experience any veil, I do have a custom cable, but listening to "Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames" right now and don't seem slow or dark to me.- Starfire

Some promised pictures of the silver. Even though it looks like the text is faint, it's just the flash drowning them out.- Starfire

Quote: Amen to that, sounds quite nice for no break in, also drives my HD650's pretty well by itself though most of the time it's through an amp.- Starfire

D7 Sidewinder....Initial impressions
Well I figured out my problem, it was the cable. I have a nice gold plated thick USB cable I use for about everything, but I guess not the D7, as soon as I used the supplied cable it was recognized. First time I've ever had that happen to me with USB.- Starfire

D7 Sidewinder....Initial impressions
I have no idea here, sometimes it will show up as unsupported device, then sometimes as XMOS XS1-L1 but will say device cannot start (Error 10) It's not the D7 because it works on my mac- Starfire
