Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Thread

Right, it is pretty clear that the buyer inserted the wrong size plugs.  The good news is that the sockets don't appear to be cracked, so I think a thicker plug should allow me to use the earphones without issue.   I've read that Westone cables have thicker pins -- I will assume they are the...

Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Thread

Can anybody recommend an aftermarket cable for my TripleFi's? I had sold the earphones on ebay and the purchasers must have used a cable with a plug with slightly thicker pins.  They must have realized this and returned it to me as not being "as described".  The stock UE cable plugs will no...

Quote: Somebody in this thread modded his post-2010 UE cables for his Fisher IEM custom.  Sorry, I'm too lazy to check on when the post was made - it was some time ago. Although I really like the angled plug on that cable I think it would be a mistake to mod the plug to fit a standard...

Just to be clear, I wasn't criticizing your decision. I think it makes sense for most of the users/uses.  I was responding to another post that provided outdated information on this point.   For me, the smaller Viablue is a bit less comfortable to handle, but it obviously will fit in more...

Quote:   Very nice.  I assume those are for your customs as well as your reshells.  So, will this be your standard construction, then?  Is there a particular specification or recommendations on the variety of plug that will work with the recessed socket?

Quote:   It turns out that CH uses the small Viablue T6s which is much smaller than the standard plug.  The standard T6s is in the middle.  The T6s he uses is on the left.

Question for those who have recently received their IEM's.  There was some talk about InEarZ throwing in a free wax loop cleaner and one of their cases with each reshell.  Did anybody get those?  (I didn't).

Quote: It is probably OK, but if it were mine I would shorten the pins enough so that the plugs sit flat against the monitor - not because of how it looks, but to reduce twisting at the socket.

That's funny, because the Viablue looks like a smaller plug - but then again there is nothing sitting next to it in the image to gauge its size.

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought

Quote: There is no way to use the E17 as a DAC with that Sansa. All is not lost, tho. From what I've heard the volume controls on the E17 is superior to that found on the Sansa, so music would sound better when played at volumes that are only adjusted by the E17.

Quote: Oh, OK. Thanks. The standard plug adapters I see on the market are 75 ohms - too high for an ER4 with portable players. I see on Ebay a couple of sellers advertising adapter plugs with a variety of resistances. They don't mention 25 ohms, but I guess that would not be a problem for...

Quote: Yes, I think I see what you mean, the plugs would tend to twist off without the proper mating of the socket to the plug.   I really wish Fisher did the proper type of socket as the angled plug is a better design for my needs.

Hmm, well I did ask Kaysen a couple months ago, and she replied that they do not use that cable. It uses a recessed plug, so I don't see how that would work. http://www.head-fi.org/t/464570/inearz-fisher-hearing-custom-remold-owners-thread/1305#post_8256838

I'm looking to replace the cable on my ancient 4p's and I'll need to find an adapter plug that has a 24 or 25 ohm inline resistor. On your Etys, since you removed the OEM cable with the built-in resistor how did you adjust the resistance to the armitures?

Very cool looking. Nice design. And congrats on getting the fit you were hoping for. What cables are those? I would like a set of angled plugs like those, but the ones I was looking at - the Logitech/UE (post 9/1/2010) uses a socket that Fisher doesn't do...
