PX 200 lol Again
hi folks, I do have a related question with this thread. There is the Px100, Px200, and there are also noise canceling models built upon the same frame, pxc150, and pxc250. Is pxc150 essentially a px100 with noise cancelling ability, and pxc250 a px200 with nc? I know that the pxc series are...- nutcracker

6moons amp reviews- thumbs down for low imp cans?
Hi folks, as all of us knows Mr. Srajan Ebaen of 6moons has been reviewing headphone amps over the years, and we also know he uses his AT w1000 woodie and senn650 for comparison. One comment he repeatedly mentions on each fine/semi-fine headphone amps (raptor, sr-71, aural audition vhp-1) is...- nutcracker

HD595 120 Ohm vs 120 Ohm: Whats the difference?
My conclusion is that BOTH 50ohms and 120ohms can be easily drivin from portable source. As of sound quality, its a different matter. From what I read from this thread, the difference between 50ohm and 120ohm versions are surprizingly subjective. Some say 50ohms sounds better, and some say...- nutcracker

so i suppose these equipments are pretty much on the same realm in terms of build quality and money value, and the difference is on the sound characteristics? I use the onix ref 1 speaker, xcd-88, and sp3 tube amp. I just acquired the AT ath-2000ad headphone, and i'm considering either...- nutcracker

amp for low impedance can?
from the review of the raptor in 6moons website, the reviewer stressed that while senn hd650's performance improved significantly when hooked on the raptor, the audio technica woodie had no improvement at all. is this got to do with the difference in the impedance of these two cans (one very...- nutcracker

amp for low impedance can?
my bad, the impedance for ad2000 is 48 ohms. So, the impedance of the can doesn't really matter when selecting an amp???? Or do low impedance can generally don't improve much with any amp, as compared to high impedance senn hd650 (which improves dramatically - to my knowledge). thanks- nutcracker

amp for low impedance can?
Hi folks, From what I understand, the higher the impedance of the can, the harder it is to drive, thus requiring a suitable amp. I guess senn hd650 fits in the category. I recently purchased the AudioTechnica AD2000 in Japan (58,000yen, or $520), which is a low impedance can (70ohm). How will...- nutcracker

Hi again folks, After doing some sort of online research, I've now been looking seriously at Music Hall Maverick SACD player ($1500). Recently rated Class B component by Stereophile, I suppose that this means it's really good? Then there is Underwood Level 1 mod Maverick for $500 extra. My...- nutcracker

Replace CD player or add DAC?
Hi all, I'm a newbie to this forum. I'm planning to build up a headphone system, and this site has been great. So far, I've decided on Senn HD650 and MF X-CANv3. For the source, I have a cheap Pioneer dvd/sacd player which came as a part of a $500 or so hometheater package. I'm thinking now on...- nutcracker
