Hi again folks,
After doing some sort of online research, I've now been looking seriously at Music Hall Maverick SACD player ($1500). Recently rated Class B component by Stereophile, I suppose that this means it's really good? Then there is Underwood Level 1 mod Maverick for $500 extra. My dilemma is....will the mod be a real significant upgrade over stock Maverick? I was thinking for the $2000 price tag, I have other alternatives such as the Sony flagship SCD-XA9000ES (I can find it for $1900 online).
Also for that extra $500, I can add on a Musical Fidelity X-10v3 tube buffer/preamplifier ($400) to stock Maverick, which I assume would be a noticible upgrade (according to the raving reviews I read, including Class A recommendation from Stereophile). I appreciate any thoughts, or any other alternative SACD player in this price range <$2000.
