Hi all, I'm a newbie to this forum.
I'm planning to build up a headphone system, and this site has been great. So far, I've decided on Senn HD650 and MF X-CANv3. For the source, I have a cheap Pioneer dvd/sacd player which came as a part of a $500 or so hometheater package. I'm thinking now on how to upgrade the source. Should I keep the cheap cd player and add on a DAC, or should I replace the cdplayer. I've heard how DAC transforms even a cheap player to sound incredible. I'm looking at something like the MF's small X-DAC v3. An online vendor currently have a package of 3 MF small x series (DAC, power supply, and tube output buffer) for $1200. However, to my knowledge, most fine cd players already have good DAC systems internally, so I suppose that will nullifiy the need for an external DAC?? The cd-player model I'm considering is MH Maverick SACD ($1500).
So, should I upgrade the system by adding on a DAC? or should I simply replace the inexpensive player? I'll take any recommendations. THANKS!!
