    Audio-Gd Master 7 - Discrete Fully Balanced DAC (PCM1704)

@aive I see from your sig that you're now running Ian FIFO II to the M7:     Are you the same individual that was selling his M7 digital input board on another forum (in order to replace it entirely with Ian FIFO II feeding the M7 dac section)? Curious how this setup is working for you...

    Audio-Gd Master 7 - Discrete Fully Balanced DAC (PCM1704)

Assuming your setup is: PC -> --USB--> DI-2014 --i2s (HDMI)--> Master 7   You only need the USB driver for the DI-2014. The PC will not see the M7 at all so you don't need a driver for it.  Here's the page with the USB drivers for di-2014: http://www.audio-gd.com/pro/dac/USB32/USB32EN_2.htm  ...

    Audio-Gd Master 7 - Discrete Fully Balanced DAC (PCM1704)

There's someone sending i2s to the Master 11 from the combo of Raspberry Pi2 / Hifiberry Dac+ Pro. He did have to remove a couple resistors from the A-gd adapter to get it to work, but it's still easier than what Ianfromcanada and the diyaudio guys are up to.   You can read more about his...

    Audio-Gd Master 7 - Discrete Fully Balanced DAC (PCM1704)

Yeah, I posted about the Amanero Ultra M4 a few times in the three a-gd PCM1704 threads. Do you have confirmation from Kingwa that this is indeed the next USB board? Besides the YT video, there's literally no mention of the M4 across the web. BTW, I love that kingwa's products just keep on giving!

    Audio-Gd Master 7 - Discrete Fully Balanced DAC (PCM1704)

Apparently the dsp and pcm1704 chips can accept/process 768KHz and 1536KHz but the device's inputs can only accept the following sampling rates. Since it's a NOS device, there will be no oversampling - the dsp/dac chips will never see higher sampling rates than its inputs can accept. IN1: BNC...

Audio GD Master-11(Combination from Master 7 and Master 9)

Now it makes sense why he wants to wait until some user reviews of the NOS 1704s are out before allowing upgrades.   Kingwa's added the following info to the NOS dac pages. Would it be correct to say that 6db/octave is a fairly gentle analog filter and that NOS dacs typically have steeper...

Audio GD Master-11(Combination from Master 7 and Master 9)

Still curious about what the 2 NOS modes are and how they differ from the M11s current NOS mode. On the M11 page, Kingwa does say that the new NOS modes don't output any nois so is there a new low pass filter being applied? Also, he seems to be pushing the fact that it can do 768KHz (384KHz now...

    New Audio-gd DAC-19 [10th Anniversary Edition]

We'll see how easy it is for current owners to do the upgrade. If it's simply a matter of swapping out ROM chips, you can ask Kingwa to provide you with both the NOS and regular chips. We shall see...

Audio GD Master-11(Combination from Master 7 and Master 9)

Ah yes, I think I understand what he was saying now. At first I thought he meant there would be a new USB interface to support 768KHz input as part of the upgrade. Seems we'll have to wait for that though.   He says that if/when it's released, we can upgrade to the new card without...

    New Audio-gd DAC-19 [10th Anniversary Edition]

There's a pretty good discussion on NOS dacs and SW upsampling vs native DAC oversampling at audiogon.   Quote:   Also, these pages are good reads on NOS dacs and the benefits of up/oversampling.   http://www.thewelltemperedcomputer.com/KB/DAC.htm  ...

Looks like we'll be able to upgrade to the full NOS version on our own if we want. Someone quoted kingwa in the dac19 thread.

Audio GD Master-11(Combination from Master 7 and Master 9)

The Amanero Combo384 USB input board can easily be swapped for the new USB input board by the user. No soldering required. Several people in this thread ordered the M11 with the original VIA USB32 input board and purchased the Combo384 afterwards. The Combo384 was shipped to them from China and...

Audio GD Master-11(Combination from Master 7 and Master 9)

From the A-gd page, it seems there are a few things to be excited about - the new USB input board (up to 768KHz), new DSP w/ 2 new NOS modes, and the FIFO data process, which should help with jitter.   I wonder if all these upgrades will be available to current PCM1704 owners.

Audio GD Master-11(Combination from Master 7 and Master 9)

Per the page linked to:   So does this mean we'll be able to upsample up to 768KHz on our PCs with something like HQPlayer, fed into the Master 11 and then bypass the M11's native oversampling? The PCM1704 can indeed accept a 768KHz input.   Also found this YT video of the Amanero Ultra...

Last year, the sale was towards the end of Chinese New Year. It ended on March 5, 2015. It was called the Chinese New Year Weekend Sale.   See here.   This year, Chinese New Year started earlier I believe, so the sale should start sooner. Maybe mid February?...

IMHO, I would say so, yes. Except in the most expensive desktop/rack DACs. In addition to being dry, I also find Sabre to be a bit harsh on the ears.   Your choices are more limited in the DAP world though. And I would be willing to live with the deficincies of Sabre. I'd be surprised if...

Anyone able to give GoneMad Music Player a try? If it plays nicely with the dual Sabre dacs and Onkyo's volume levels, it may be an ideal alternative for users who aren't satisfied with the Onkyo player's media management capabilities. GoneMad has the best media management I can find on Android...

I do that as well, and include the disc # tag on top of that. So: Track 12, Disc 1 and then Track 13, Disc 2. Covers any use case I've encountered well. It should be relatively easy to update one's library with a good media manager like J River.

    Echobox Audio LIVE on IndieGoGo!!

I like the mahogany best I think. From the rear, I actually like the black walnut as it matches the aluminum hardware better. From the front though, the mahogany contrasts less with the black device/screen.
