Whats the best Linux distro for Audiophile?

I see what you did there. I know you're just trying to bait me to increase my post count so that you can salvage your majority calculating algorithm, now that you have realized you have made even more flawed propositions.

Whats the best Linux distro for Audiophile?

It's painfully obvious throughout who is the aggressive person in this exchange. Some advice: aggressiveness never comes off as a good trait among civilized people.

Whats the best Linux distro for Audiophile?

I am still waiting for that new majority calculating algorithm you have devised - it sounded very interesting.

Whats the best Linux distro for Audiophile?

One statement after another, your argumentation just gets more and more weird. As I said before, calling out fanboyism is not ad hominem. And using your words against you is not parroting, itäs just showing how bad your argumentation is. And now apparently you do not even know the ratio that...

Whats the best Linux distro for Audiophile?

So after me trying to lower the temperature in this discussion you go all in and increase the attacks?!?! There is no need for *nix education here, thank you very much. And you bury yourself even deeper in that far-fetched "consumer comes from pro" argument. Plain silly. The way you are arguing...

Whats the best Linux distro for Audiophile?

I did not accuse you of not empathising with other people's setups. The topic is about audiophile listening to music on linux distros, not what system is best for professional computer audio production. Don't hide from the truth. It's all there in the thread. You're just embarrassing yourself now.

Whats the best Linux distro for Audiophile?

Your post that I responded to did not speak to the topic. That was outlined above. Your two immediate responses to me continued down the line beside the topic and argued from a computer audio professional standpoint, a standpoint which is at the base of this whole discussion. So do not come...

Whats the best Linux distro for Audiophile?

Come on, seriously? "while doing exactly what you accuse me of doing" I have done no such thing. How can you even begin to pretend that with a straight face? What I did was to assume that you addressed the topic at hand, rather than speaking beside the point. Shame on me for making such an...

Whats the best Linux distro for Audiophile?

You're way off the mark, this thread is about audiophiles playing music, not computer audio professionals producing.

Whats the best Linux distro for Audiophile?

It's strange how fanboyism continues to live on in this day and age. Good for you that you like your gear, but it's just silly to claim what you just did, and it goes to show that you only know your setup and little about those of others.

Whats the best Linux distro for Audiophile?

Gone? Did I miss something? WASAPI still working flawlessly in foobar 1.4.8 under Win 10 1909.

Whats the best Linux distro for Audiophile?

That is a good suggestion. I am using a Pi 3B that is sourced with music files from my NAS and hooked up to the DAC. No need for a "Hifi-RaspberryPi" if you connect it to a DAC. Volumio is nice, accessible both from PC and smartphone. It can be tweaked, although I have not succeded in...

Whats the best Linux distro for Audiophile?

I set my WASAPI to the "domination mode" where it blocks out all other sounds, other than what foobar is playing. It is apparently experimental, but it has worked flawlessly for me for five years. On Linux Mint I pipe directly to alsa output bypassing pulseaudio. Has also worked flawlessly.

DIY RCA cables - is a cable tester necessary?

Hi, I just made my first audio cables, mostly for the looks though, not hoping to improve sound. Six RCA interconnects (VanDamme cable + Neutrik plug). The cables work and I think (placebo warning!) they sound better/stronger than the thin black in-the-box cables I had before. How 'bout that...

What piano song is this?? Need help

It's too romantic for Glass.  I tried running it through Soundhound but the 13-second sample is too short for it to be recognised... :(

[collaboration thread] ABX testing lossless and lossy

Hi,   The topic of lossless and lossy comes up all the time. "Can you hear any difference?" "I always do!" "It's impossible!" Etc.   Often though, the discussions remain theoretical and while empirical data is offered ("I tested this and that with these results") people chime in with...

Audible difference between 320kbps and flac?

I always thought it was very very very difficult and always suspected placebo when I said that I could tell a flac from a 320. Then a few weeks ago I decided to ABX myself on a favourite section of mine of Schubert's Death and the Maiden, and I got 5/5. Although, this was with flac and 192. I...

headphone amp worth it for piano music ?

Ok. Thanks everyone for your input. It sounds like I should start auditioning HP-amps then.    Just a quick question since I am not so well versed in this terminology, what does "a very fast transient" mean?

headphone amp worth it for piano music ?

Hi, I was just wondering, if I mainly listen to solo piano music (Chopin, Haydn, Bach) in my headphones, would it be worth it to invest in a headphone amp? Or is it only when I unleash the Wagnerian forces that I start to hear anything different compared to when I hook my phones up like in the...

headphone extension cable = loss of quality

Hi, I want to move my favourite listening chair more than than five meters away from my amp (currently I have no headphone amp). My DT880s have a 3 metre cable.   1) Can I without risking to have loss of quality buy an extension cable of say another 3 metres? 2) Any recommendations...

    sound leakage: DT880 vs. HD650

Indeed, the DT880 is semiopen. But the guy in the store said that the HD650 was also semiopen.   Quote:

    sound leakage: DT880 vs. HD650

Of course not. I just want the less noisier of the two.  I am a little surprised though, I would not qualify the DT880 as a "noisy person".

    sound leakage: DT880 vs. HD650

Hi,   I cannot borrow the Senns HD650 from the store to try out at home, so I find it difficult to gauge how much they leak compared to the DT880. My girlfriend said she could clearly hear music as I played it in the DT880 at home, will she hear more or less from the HD650?   Prologue: I...

Did HRT kick Dacmagic's butt ?

Hi, I just came back a HiFi-store where I wanted to listen to a pair of HD650 before I ordered a pair of DT880. I am a bit perplexed about what the guy there told me, so maybe you knowledgeable people here can weigh in.    We got talking about my headphone needs and first he took me for...
