DIY RCA cables - is a cable tester necessary?

Hi,
I just made my first audio cables, mostly for the looks though, not hoping to improve sound. Six RCA interconnects (VanDamme cable + Neutrik plug). The cables work and I think (placebo warning!) they sound better/stronger than the thin black in-the-box cables I had before. How 'bout that.

But my question is, is there any reason to invest in a cable tester?

Obviously there is no short-curcuiting going on, but could less than stellar soldering on my part lead to worse audio performance? Is there a scenario where it would be worth opening up the plugs and re-doing the soldering?

A $5 multi-meter DMM will get you through the day.  While at work with some time to waste, we would sometimes hi-pot or megger spare components, just to see what they could take. Often they would take way more than expected. (then we put them in the trash)

While some bulk coax is rated at 3000 Volts, I would not hi-pot or megger any good interconnect.
