DT1350 alternatives or will they eventually feel better?

Sorry for the extremely late reply, everybody. Had to rush out of town today but took the cans with me on the flight. Had them on most of the short trip, but couldn't hear anything due to the plane being a prop plane, and the vibrations were so awful that I bet noise cancelling phones would have...

DT1350 alternatives or will they eventually feel better?

I have not tried the stretching yet but I can give that a shot over the next couple nights just to see what happens. Fingers crossed it can help some. For portable basically what I'm looking for is a closed back cans, decent isolation to keep music from leaking too badly and bothering people...

DT1350 alternatives or will they eventually feel better?

I recently got an amazing deal on a pair of DT1350's which I have coveted for a while as a closed back portable pair to complement my HE400i's that I've had for a couple of years now. I got the 1350's for use in public locations, studying at the library, walking to class, airplanes, etc. I...

    THE DIY HEADPHONE STAND THREAD

Well so I've been away for ages. The stump is still sitting, sadly. Turned out to have a bunch of wood beetles making a lovely home in it so my carpenter friend had me wrap it up in saran wrap and stick it away in a freezer for months since it's a big hunk. Gotta get them out somehow! I'm hoping...

Do I need a DAC that can handle more than 16bit music files?

Yeah I am fully set on the uber! Thanks again everyone. I'm stoked to get it soon!

Do I need a DAC that can handle more than 16bit music files?

@taiz Been looking at the D1! It looks like a solid DAC   @PurpleAngel I agree, thanks for the heads up! I'll stay clear of those.   @bgentry I should have made it more clear in my post lol! I do have an amp. The Project Polaris by Garage1217. It's pretty intense and can crank out around 1.6...

    THE DIY HEADPHONE STAND THREAD

Haha, it is a good hunk of wood! The base is around 6 inches at the top, 8 at the bottom, and the branch is 4ish across. Pretty solid but small enough to work. Hope it turns out well!

    THE DIY HEADPHONE STAND THREAD

I've spent so much time looking over this thread and drooling over fantastic works of art that, with a little extra nudge from a friend, I felt I might give make a stand a shot! It's not even close to being done but I'm to excited to not share the idea and what it looks like at the moment.  ...

Do I need a DAC that can handle more than 16bit music files?

Thank you everyone! I'll definitely take a look at the others mentioned.   Sounds like even though I want to GA DAC I probably will end with one that can handle all type of files so the Modi 2 Uber is probably the way I'm going to go. Would rather have the tech for all options.   Also, I'm...

Do I need a DAC that can handle more than 16bit music files?

So it would just be a safe bet to get one with the 24/192? Any other sub 150 DAC capable of doing that that you would recommend? And I'll be getting foobar tomorrow when I take some time to transfer all my music files over to it. A member on here taught me all about it so now I just need to...

New from Garage1217, the solid-state Project Polaris!

Well Jeremy is really a kick-a** guy! He fixed my amp and gave it a bit of an upgrade! Here is what he sent me:   Changed out the MKT caps to Wimas which is what we use currently (very quiet caps - excellent DC blockers Changed out the volpot / no more scratch or issues of course Cleaned /...

Do I need a DAC that can handle more than 16bit music files?

Basically exactly what I asked in the title.   I'm searching around for a DAC for my Project Polaris and HE400i headphones as I've noticed I'm getting a lot of background noise from my laptop internals when I plug my amp directly into the headphone jack. I'm not going to spend more than $150...

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

520RanchBroI don't know if it is any better sounding but, other than being too short, it feels much nicer and seems to be of a higher qualtiy.

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

Well I'm just going to give a real quick review of my new HE400i's! I am in no way, well educated in the audio world (I just love quality sounding music and movies) so this is basically a quick and very elementary review.   Amp: Garage1217 Polaris running straight out of my laptop's headphone...

New from Garage1217, the solid-state Project Polaris!

Jeremy is a great guy. It's awesome that all he wants is to keep customers happy with the amps. Best customer service I've dealt with!     @RiddleyWalker Mine actually could get decently loud and quite obvious over the music and the more times I tried the do the rotation of the pot to clean...

New from Garage1217, the solid-state Project Polaris!

Thanks for the link! I was actually able to talk with Jeremy and he said it sounds like contamination in the grease of the volpot on that channel or a spec of dust made it into the grease. So I did the usual rotation of the pot, the sound is still there when I rotate it. Jeremy says that it...

New from Garage1217, the solid-state Project Polaris!

Hey you all, I have a quick question regarding my Polaris. I've noticed that sometimes when I turn the volume knob I get some slight static in my left can. When my headphones (HE400i) are plugged into my sound system receiver and I quickly adjust the volume, I don't notice any static at all and...

HD650 or HE400? Or something else?

Thanks for the help you two, but now after some more research I've decided to up myself to the $500 range. Figured I might as well since I have the money for it. I'm sticking away from the DTs as I was never a fan of their sound on any of the models (770, 880, and 990) So now I've upped...

HD650 or HE400? Or something else?

I'm finally getting around to ordering a pair of headphones after months of dealing with life.   Last summer I ordered a pair of HE400's and loved them from the start. I used them for everything and could wear them for hours, though I hated how they left a gap behind my ear and the treble...

    HE400's didn't cut it :( Searching again

598's have been in my mind for a while but they from all I've read their bass seems to be a bit on the weaker side. Impact isn't a huge deal for me but I feel it'll be nicer to have the little extra bass the HD600 adds to the sound signature. I might order a pair of these with whatever I end up...

    HE400's didn't cut it :( Searching again

Those will definitely remain on my radar! I'm trying to move away from HiFiMan simply because the ear-pads never felt quite right with my ears. No matter what adjustments I made the pads would always touch the tip of my ears and started to drive me insane (I still could manage to wear them for...

    HE400's didn't cut it :( Searching again

Well after a few weeks of use I returned the HE400's (which also surprisingly had a little piece come loose inside. Didn't effect the sound but still such a bummer). The sound was fantastic, no lie, and I loved every minute of them but something just didn't seem right, almost as if something was...

New from Garage1217, the solid-state Project Polaris!

Doing this from my phone. Hope it works right. Now to answer your question I will say that just moving the BW settings to the lowest setting did help tone down the sharpness/edge of the HE400's. They were still sharp but toned down a bit. I say give the BW settings a try and listen to each one...
