Concerto AD797A for AD797B
You can request samples through nationals website. Problem is you can only do 5 per week and you need 6 total for the concerto, so you would need to do two orders.- thegr8brian

Sansa Fuze and Rockbox
Quote: I did see that progweed build but I didn't notice the update later on. I think I would hold off on that patch until I actually see an issue with the database, because right now it's working fine for me. I also don't ever use crossfeed either, maybe I'll include it the next time...- thegr8brian

Sansa Fuze and Rockbox
Quote: The fuze won't clip until the volume is set above 0db so this sounds like an odd problem with the other device you are using. I wasn't having any issues with the database, but I have not seen the patch so I may look into it, also never heard of a font improvement patch, not sure...- thegr8brian

Sansa Fuze and Rockbox
Quote: One would assume the lineout to be better if properly implemented. I believe since this audio processor (AS3525) was intended mainly for mobile applications and headphone use they worried more about optimizing the headphone output rather than the line out, which most people will...- thegr8brian

Sansa Fuze and Rockbox
I have built my own custom version for Fuze v2 which includes the same lineout as well as a high quality tweak for the headphone out which lowers THD a few db. It also has USB semi working, at least in windows 7 it works but it does not appear to be working in OS X yet. I can post this...- thegr8brian

Review: Anedio D1 DAC - my new reference DAC
Quote: To me this sounds like this could be due to the relatively high output impedance of the macbook air with the low impedance headphones you are using having a negative effect the electrical damping ratio which would lead to perhaps hearing more flapping as a false detail.- thegr8brian

In terms of measurements, the only amp I have seen that measures better than the D1 built in is "The Wire" DIY amp.- thegr8brian

Review: Yulong D100 DAC/amp - reference quality with a reasonable price
Quote: I believe it will still be class-a or class-ab by design, but it appears to be two AD797's instead of the single dual package OPA2134 found in the D100 and the BUF634's instead of a discrete buffer. Yes, it appears that there will be nothing like ASRC. I can't see much useful...- thegr8brian

Review: Yulong D100 DAC/amp - reference quality with a reasonable price
From the erji.net translation I gather: ESS 9018. AD797 headphone amp stage and BUF634P buffers Noise floor looks about 10db lower than D100 and better harmonic distortion peaking at the 3rd harmonic at about -114db THD+N looks like about 0.0003% compared to D100 0.0005% Using the...- thegr8brian

Best DAC from $1500 to $2500 (or so) Can anything beat the Eastern Electric Minimax?
I can't speak from experience, but a lot of people seem to love the Anedio D1 which is around $1200. There is talk of a future more feature laden model which I'm sure would be closer to the $2000 range. I'd be curious to hear if anyone has done a comparison between the Anedio and the EE since...- thegr8brian

V-Can, V-DAC and V-Link compared to the competition (amp-dac combo for Grado RS-2)?
Quote: I've actually tried disconnecting the TT entirely so the V-LPS has no input and I still get the same noise. So as far as I can tell it is the V-LPS. Like I said though, this is only with the amp turned up loud enough to blow out my ears if a record was actually playing.- thegr8brian

The past and the future of Meier-Audio
Can't wait to hear about the differences between the Corda Classic and the Corda Concerto. Seems to be keeping the same clean design with what looks like added crossfeed controls like with the stagedac.- thegr8brian
