Is it that the one that goes up to 22,000 will play high notes too loudly and will hurt your ears more?

Basically I want to get a Bose earphone again. But I am afraid that the ones without volume control are the ones that sounds better. But I value the volume control too, so I am torn.

Sansa Clip is cheap. Is the sound quality of Sansa Clip+ on par with that of COWON J3 or Fiio X3, which costs about $200?
