Audio Technica ATH-W5000 headphones
I love these with Yamamoto HA-02 tube amp, there is something magical about this combo, especially female voices as many have said. Even better than the W3000ANV. It is not the same with any other solid state amp like Naim Headline or Benchmark- mogs

Audio Technica ATH-W5000 headphones
I have several good headphones, but ATH W5000 powered with Yamamoto HA-02 is the most I love. They don't sound that good with my portable or solid state amps. Probably tube amps add a lot to bass and lower mids which balance them better. They are less detailed than Stax O2 or HD800, but are very...- mogs

Fostex HP-P1 Portable Amplifier and DAC for iPod/iPhone (Short REVIEW and Impressions Thread)
Quote: It tops off my iPod Nano 2010 model pretty fast.Must be that the two batteries level off when connected. I guess it can do so several times before the HP-P01 drains off completely, probably as the iPod nano battery consumes/stores less power than a touch/iPhone due to smaller size.- mogs

New Flagship from Audio-Technica: ATH-W3000ANV, 50th Anniversary Headphones
Received my W3000anv and am glad I picked them up.I would have missed them till AT released another flagship. They look gorgeous and fit very comfortably for me. W5000 was a bit loose and W1000x was a little uncomfortable for me due to the pads touching my ears.Build quality is not as good as...- mogs

New Flagship from Audio-Technica: ATH-W3000ANV, 50th Anniversary Headphones
Thanks for the great posts people. I finally gave into my temptation and bit the bullet...love this place !!! Couldn't resist the thought of W3000ANV sitting along with 1000x and 5000, driven through my beloved Yammy HA 02. By the impressions so far, these seem to be very enjoyable phones. I...- mogs

SENNHEISER INVITES YOU TO BE PART OF HISTORY - (Seeking participants)
I am addicted (only) to headphones. It all started from 2004,with Sennheiser 515, 555, PXC 350 and now the 650, 800. I have burnt a big chunk of my hard earned savings and am willing to burn more considering the audio bliss I will get by the improvements in sound you guys produce through your...- mogs

Skylab, many thanks for your impressions, As always, I have learnt a lot by your experience. Also eager to listen to others who have heard Yammy, AT1000x and AT5000, specifically Muppetface. The suspense in this thread is thrilling (Still not sure if I should invest in W3000, only based on the...- mogs

Stax Help
Completely agree with Seacard, used O2 and Stax amp are great performers with the best value for money. Other amps are expensive, not easily available. Enjoy and choose based on what you listen. Guitar sub tones of Queen are just sublime on O2, nothing comes close. Good luck and if you are...- mogs

Stax Help
I went the same route and ended up buying O2 along with 507 and both SSD and Tube Stax amps. O2 has better imaging/layering/clarity and 507 better sound stage, you need some time to really appreciate the difference. 507 is a great setup to start with and I enjoy it more with a Stax tube amp SRM...- mogs

disappointed by high-end open headphones, what's next?
If you like GS1000i, Ed 8 is worth a try in the closed cans as they are portable, have good bass and are fun to listen. AT is laid back and needs specific amps to sound good.- mogs

New Flagship from Audio-Technica: ATH-W3000ANV, 50th Anniversary Headphones
My thoughts below are listening to my setup with Yamamoto HA-02 amp, Benchmark DAC and Denon SACD player as source. W5000 is sweet sounding with very good instrument separation and sound stage. The bass goes very low, is textured and detailed, but lacks punch like Sennheiser HD 650...- mogs

Could you please suggest a good DAC for W5000/AT-HA5000
Hi, I am using Benchmark DAC1 along with Yamamoto HA 02, ATH W5000 listening to a Denon SACD player. I really like the combination and it is being used the most in my setup. Benchmark improves sound stage, seperation between instruments, the clarity in treble and female vocals. Waiting to...- mogs
