$20 battery DAC "similar" to Zhaolu :)

Thanks Soloz, I got an email reply from DIYkits who told me that the DAC in Box prioritizes optical signals over coax if both are present. I ended buying a Number Cruncher though. I just wanted something cheap for work, so the Number Cruncher won out with lower price and a domestic seller.

$20 battery DAC "similar" to Zhaolu :)

If I were to have two different computers sending signals into this DAC at the same time (one via optical and the other coax), what would happen? I'd like to share this between two computers that are right next to each other. Without a source select, however, I'm a bit hesitant to order one.

First experience with my new turntable.

Setup from opening the box to playing music took me maybe 30 minutes total, and this was the first time I've ever had to do such a thing. With the cartridge (presumably) prealigned, all I did was follow the manual, adjust a few dials, attach a counterweight.. and voila, I was spinning music.

First experience with my new turntable.

Touch is a great album, and I'm glad that I was able to pick up a M- copy with M- sleeve for super cheap. One of my local shops had a great deal on it, and everything 25% off to begin with. I grabbed Touch amongst many other gems. The album is so airy and beautiful though.. everything is so...

First experience with my new turntable.

After much debate on how to get started with vinyl, I decided to buy a Music Hall MMF-5; it arrived today. I set everything up like the manual said and the first thing I played was Kate Ryan - Désenchantée (12" Single). . . All I have to say about the sound is wow! The bass that I heard was...

Differences between Music Hall MMF-2.1 and MMF-5?

I tried to do a search on the board, but wasn't able to find solid answers for what I wanted... Does anybody have any insight to the 2.1 vs 5? What are the biggest differences that make the 5 stand out, and Is the 5 just so much better than the 2.1 that there is no comparison at all? I'd like to...

New to turntables/vinyl and need some help

That Music Hall is more than double my current budget (300 max, hoping for 200 if humanly possible). Is there anything good to say about the Thoren 170 I'm looking at or is it a "don't bother" type of thing? I'd really like to just pick something up at Amazon since that would be the easiest and...

New to turntables/vinyl and need some help

Despite that fact that I know nothing about turntables and I am clueless about what to do, I'd like to get into vinyl and experience it. I am hoping that I can get some feedback about what I need to buy and can get away with for a $200-300 budget. If possible, I'd also like to purchase...

Slightly off-topic, but the codes are appearing on the bottom of fountain cups at Seven Eleven too.

    iHP-120 $300 @ amazon.com incl. rebate

I have no direct experience with Office Depot or J&R, but I think the general rule applies, that if the 3rd party retailer has a presence in your state then you'll be charged tax. I've never been charged tax for a direct Amazon.com order, but have been, for Target, Borders, and Gap.

    iHP-120 $300 @ amazon.com incl. rebate

Usually, when the price at Amazon fluctuates, it is because they've run out of stock and are selling on behalf of other retailers (and at that particular retailer's price). In the case of the iHP-120, Amazon starts selling for J&R, Office Depot, etc.

    Question on ER-6

The ER-6 almost do not stick out at all - not for me anyways. They are quite short, and I have to work a bit to grab the ends when removing them from my ear. When I get a bit hasty and lazy, however, I sometimes pull them out using the cord even though it's not a good idea to do so.

Shure E2C case vs Ety ER6 case

penguinboy, great suggestion! I've owned the ER-4S and ER-6 for quite a while now and always felt that Etymotic Research could improve on the included carry cases. There's just one small problem - my wallet now hates you! Sure it was only $15 + 7 (for two-day UPS), but still an unseen expense...

    Trance and 'High-End' Headphones

I must admit that the bass may be weaker than just about every other headphone out there, but that may very well be the reason why I enjoy these headphones so much for the electronica family of music - the bass isn't heavy enough to fatigue me during long listening periods. All that really...

    Trance and 'High-End' Headphones

Eagle_Driver, I noticed that you have a pair of AKG K240DFs in your inventory. Although these may not be considered 'high end'... if you have time and don't mind, could you please comment on how you think they compare to the other headphones when used for trance? In my experiences in trying out...

Need help with sony NS500V & ac/line noise problems

The dvd->wall and headphone->amp->wall setup is currently what I have. It would be more complicated, but I've unplugged everything else in the process of tracking down the buzzes. Anyhow, the dvd player is not hooked up to the headphone amp, and the buzz dissapears as soon as I hit the power...

Need help with sony NS500V & ac/line noise problems

My ns500v seems to be generating hums and buzzes that can be heard through power lines. The dvd player has only a connection to the power outlet (no audio/video lines hooked up), and the same goes for my headphone amp and headphone. Whenever the player is in on or in standby mode, then a...

    Stand alone CD Duplicators?

Actually, some of the machines do require you to buy those special music cd-rs that you always see in the computer store.
