A bit of advice for a Closed Portable Under $300 pair...

A lot of ppl liking their ESW9's, I'm gonna be looking into the D1001 and ESW9 quite thoroughly.    I guess 300 was a bit high of a budget for closed headphones lol.    Anyways, thank you to everyone who posted their recommendations, I've got a bunch to research.

A bit of advice for a Closed Portable Under $300 pair...

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I am going to look into each of those recommendations.   How does everyone feel about the Denon AHD 2000 or Denon AHD1001S  Both are in budget and get pretty good reviews!    I'll keep up with my research, thank you once again for your input!!!

Looking for a solid pair of closed ear headphones for under 100$

Shure srh 240?    I used to own them, can't really remember how much they drown out sound (I just used them at home mainly). They fit your budget and are very durable, and have a great sound to them too.

Are you happy using headphones "unamped"?

I think it depends on the headphone your using, I have a set of HD555's, and plugged straight into my iPhone they deliver great sound. I've added a Fiio E5 and it makes no audible difference.   But I've also tried other headphones, for example something from the Shure line - seems to...

A bit of advice for a Closed Portable Under $300 pair...

The Srh840s are indeed pretty bulky for portable headphones, they do deliver great sound though.   Audio-Technica's ATH-ES7 are a great recommendation, I've been researching these for quite some time now. They are very portable, and from what I've read - deliver a very balanced sound. - -...

A bit of advice for a Closed Portable Under $300 pair...

Hey guys,   currently I'm addicted to my Sennheiser HD 555 open cans, they provide an AMAZING sound out of my PC with the standard sound card (unamped).  I've been using them for listening to classical, pop, hip hop, and rock. Pretty much anything, and they handle ALL of it. (And I have...

    Need help finding headphones

I'm surprised nobody has suggested this one yet: Shure Srh 240. They fit perfectly in your budget, they are closed, deliver pretty decent sound with a balanced bass. They are portable, look good, can be driven from a portable source, and do a great job at noise cancelling. I'd definitely...

Help on starting out?! please :)

Yeah for a library (or any quiet environment), and walks you'd want a closed headphone. You havn't really said anything about your budget, but since you were considering the hD650's I'd say its anywhere up to and above 300? I have not tried anything in that price range, but I can definitely...

    Grado SR80 Vs Sennheiser HD555

I also have the E5 with the 555's and have noticed no improvements so far. The 555's sound great even through the iPhone, I've had 'em for over a week, and have not noticed any major difference while using the E5.

Looking for headphones in the $100 range, think I have it narrowed down to three

the 750DJs will be great for you. The 440s really clamp your head after a while, not the best for comfort. I guess you've already decided against it but I'd also like to say Sennheiser 448

    555's or 595's Comparison?

Srh440 sound pretty good even without an amp (directly through iPhone). My only personal drawback on them is that they were somewhat uncomfortable for me - like clamping on my head somewhat. The HD448 are awesome though. I do not own them, I have only auditioned them, and they were extremely...

Sennheiser 280 pro upgradnig to hd 555

I have had my 555's for about a week and I LOVE them. Obviously not enough time to endure any sort of cosmetic (or otherwise) problems. They have an extremely comfortable fit on your head. The cushions on your ears are also very comfortable and do not cause sweating. The sound is great...

Looking for a new pair of headphones.. Can't decide.

From my experience in the past with srh440s, I found their sound to be great (especially considering the price tag), but the only setback was they were kind of clampy on my head. So the comfort factor wasn't present (for me personally). My recommendation would be to research the Sennheiser...

I Want to be in the front row...Any headphones?

I'd like to add that it depends also on what the source of the music is. You may want to consider budgeting wisely to get a good setup rather than just a great headphone and not have enough juice from your source to reveal their full potential.

Trouble ripping and playing blu ray on PC

I don't how effective any of the following methods are seeing as I have not tried myself but you can convert m2ts to bluray using program like this: iSkysoft Video Converter - Video Converter software to convert AVI WMV MPEG MKV - It is a pay program and I'm sure there is some freeware...

Cheapish (£50? £100 MAX) for the commute / throw in a bag

I found the shure srh240 to be a good portable headphone. Its comfortable - on your head, and even around your neck, not that heavy. And they sounded fine even through my iPhone. As for looks, they have a nice glossy finish. That's about it lol.

Trouble ripping and playing blu ray on PC

usually VLC media player (a free program) plays blu ray rips quite well. the m2ts file should work with this program, but you can always use tsmuxer or some sort of converter and get it into another format for pc use. eg - .mp4, although not sure if tsmuxer can do that.

Help !!! Open or Closed headphones

The Grado Sr60i are an open design that deliver great sound. For soundtrack music I would personally recommend open design. Obviously everyones taste is different, but in my opinion - the open design will allow for a wider soundstage and overall better sound (for that kind of music especially)...

That didn't go how I planned at all...
