Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
The hissing becomes more apparent at a louder volume, but it's there and present on the majority of the smartphones. My s3, note 2, note 3, and m8 all hissed. The s3/note 2 slightly less probably because it has a dedicated dac instead of it built in like the Qualcomm chips.- Brokenlax

Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
The popping sound is likely the chip itself turning on and off. Try pausing your music and wait a few seconds, it should have a faint clicking sound of the dac turning off. Getting a new phone won't help as they all do that. You're much off getting a low profile attenuator or somehow...- Brokenlax

Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
My xonar hisses with the se846, to fix the issue you need to get a better source or increase the impedance of the iems. You can either buy an attenuator like the ones linked above or you can use the volume control that comes with the 846. There's no perceiveable quality reduction as far as I...- Brokenlax

Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
Nope, it's definitely design defect or a construction oversight. I didn't even change my filters this time because another user said the possibility of the rubber seal wearing out so I just left it as is. Sure enough after several inserts the right iem started creaking. There's also zero...- Brokenlax

Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
I'm really disappointed with Shure on the SE846, I ordered another pair and now the right ear piece is developing a creaking noise.(previously it was the left) The sound quality is extremely good but the build quality is just piss poor. They really need to redesign how the nozzle works because...- Brokenlax

Thanks, and by sleeves I mean the tips, since that's what shure calls them officially I think. The tips for me are just really difficult to swap out. It has a death grip on the nozzle that requires prying with my nails to get it off. Shure recommends that we twist the tips to get them off, but...- Brokenlax

Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
Let me know if you guys are able to swap it for a new pair, not repaired or refurbished. I "fixed" mine yesterday by swapping to the blue filters, but when trying out the white filters now it's creaking again. This is really weird because the filters are the same length. Also the sleeves are...- Brokenlax

Shure SE846 Impressions Thread
I inspected the included tips closer today and most of them were permanently deformed from how tightly they were packed into the tiny case. I emailed Shure if there's a chance if I can get replacement ones so we'll see how this goes. For $999 I think it's not too outrageous to expect perfection...- Brokenlax

USB AMP/DAC $150 Recommendation
Hey there! I managed to score a cheap AKG 701 off a friend, and I'd like some recommendations on a usb amp/dac combo. From lurking around threads I've seen people recommending the E7 and the uDac - I'd like to keep it more or less around $150 for "best" balanced amp/dac- Brokenlax

Looking for DAP/PMP suggestions
I've been using a 16gig psp 1000 with cfw these past two years(plays flac nicely), and it looks like its finally at the end of its rope. I'm looking for something that is under $300, preferably having wifi and over 16gigs of storage, wifi is not really needed, but would be a nice addon...- Brokenlax
