    Audio Technica ATHES55BK

Would the Audio Technica ATHES55BK be better than the Shure SRH440's?    Irealise the shures are full size and the technicas are more on the portable side, but I would like one set of phones for home and out and about. At the moment I use Denon in ears for portable use,

What about the Audio-Technica ATH-WS55i? They seem to get good reviews and designed for ipod. Just found them for £55

Sell Shure SRH440 and Denon C551 to purchase a portable on ear headphone.

The shures are great, but too big to be portable, the Denons are also great but after long use, hurt my ears. So sell these two and buy a pair of descent portable phones with the sound quality of the Shures, but smaller. £100 ish

Dislike Shure 440, Need Closed Headphone Advice (<$150 ATH-M50, HD 25-1 II, or used DT770?)

Did you burn the 440's in? Because i don't have any issues with the sound that you encountered. I also find them extremely comfortable. I did order the 840 pads but too be honest didn't really find any difference.

Shure SRH 840 OR SRH 440

I use my 440's with a iPod Touch and NO amp. I don't find the sound thin. I think they are superb.

    Need Help Quick!!! Shure SRH440/840 V SRH440

I have the Shure 440's. They are fantastic. Although i havn't listened to the 840's so can't compare. But from what i have read the 440's are better value for money.

    Shure SRH-440 Impressions, Anyone?

No the pads are identical in size. To be honest i can't tell the difference in sound. The 840 pads are slightly softer. In my opinion they are not worth swapping.

    Shure SRH440 'Foam plug' mod

I've reinserted the foam. The phones sound better with them in. Shure must also think this or they would not be there in the first place.

    Shure SRH440 'Foam plug' mod

I tried this mod this afternoon. They definitely sound different although i'm not sure it's better. The Bass to me seems a little boomy on some tracks. This mod seems to favour electronic music better than rock.

    $110 and under: Denon ah-d1001 vs ath-m50 vs ath-es7

I would have to vote other and my other would be the Shure SRH440's. Solid bass but not overpowering (like a previous poster suggested) also great highs and mids. Comfortable to wear and fold up into the provided bag.

Denon AH-D1001 or Audio Technica ATH-ES7 for iPod

I can thouroughly recomend the Shure SRH440's

    Which one? Please vote!

I have the Shure SRH440's and they are fantastic and reading many reviews the Shure 840's are even better so the 840's will get my vote. But the 840's are also in a different price league to the other two.

ATH-M50's Broke, need replacement, Same Audio Quality or Better!

If you were happy with the M50's why not just get another pair of those. I will highly recommend the Shure SRH440's. The Shure SRH840's are even better and closer to your price range.
