Dac1 running hot+24/7 = bad idea?
Mine is just warm and if I have one inch of space under it, it is barely warm. Have you opened it up to find out where all the heat is coming from? It should not be running hot. Seems like something is wrong.- dip16dac

Want to buy a DAC
I think audioengr is Steve N from Empirical audio who has posted on his website and audioasylum about the ECD-1 and Bel Canto mods that he does on them and how they sound before and after. I would like to see him evaluate a Benchmark DAC1 and how it compares to the others.- dip16dac

Benchmark DAC-1: The all-in-one solution?
Or you can use software like winamp plugins to make it sound like a tube amp, concert hall, or auditorium. I like to use those once in a while for fun but not all the time.- dip16dac

CD3000 group buy thread
CD3000 MSRP is $699.95 and buy.com lists them for $379.98 but they also have a link for volume purchase available of over $5000. I would be surprised if it is for less than $350 each but it's worth a try to find out from them.- dip16dac

Benchmark DAC-1: The all-in-one solution?
The DAC1 matches up with the RS1 very well and even the SR225. I listened for over 12 hours almost continuously on Saturday with the RS1 without fatigue and another 12 hours on Sunday with SR225. Love the detail, quick clean clear sound, and strong bass. It has enough bass slam that I don't...- dip16dac

Both audioadvisor and sweetwater offer free shipping and since they are in different states, tax should not be charged from at least one of them. Also, if you call them for their lowest price, you should get at least another $50 off.- dip16dac

Even though it is listed for $975 on all web sites, you can get it for less by calling and asking them for their lowest price. Then ask for free shipping as well. Call at least three different places.- dip16dac
