    Bent plug question

Thank you very much! That was both informative and helpful in putting my mind at ease!

    Bent plug question

So I noticed the plug on my Sennheiser MX980 was bent slightly, so I decided to bend it back, and it's straight now.  But I noticed that at one of the plastic separators there's a small gap.  I'm assuming that since there's a plastic separator there to begin with, this tiny gap is not an issue...

    What would happen?

Hmm will try it.  I'm curious if this can be used to make a poor man's surround headphone or just to use headphones that excel at one end of the spectrum to balance out headphones that are good on the other.   Probably not, but worth a shot.

K70X - Complement to the D2000? (Primarily orchestral listener)

Quote:     I'm assuming that the Fiio E9+E7 which together can drive small speakers will be sufficient? ;)        Quote:     I've never thought about doing that before! How did you set this up if you don't mind my asking?

    What would happen?

I've always been curious about something and never actually tried it.    What would happen if you hooked up a pair of earbuds to an amped source, hooked up larger cans to the source as well, put the earbuds in and then put the headphones on top?     Would the magnets in the two...

K70X - Complement to the D2000? (Primarily orchestral listener)

Yup! Which is why I'm keeping them around.   Anyways I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the AKG K702, so I will let you know in a few days some first impressions, let them burn in for a while and give final impressions and whether or not I will keep them or ship them back.   If they...

K70X - Complement to the D2000? (Primarily orchestral listener)

First off I do love the D2000, they have a great deal of versatility to me. While I mainly listen to orchestral music (namely soundtracks), I do love their ability to work well with rock/electronic/etc. a wide range of music in general. What I like about them is that they are one of the very few...

    D2000 vs HD650 | Comparison & Review

I think the best way to judge the phones is how closely they reproduce the real sounds of instruments in the studio before they are ever touched by folks in the mixing booth in digital format. Graphs and charts and numbers are great math, but ultimately tell a very shallow and oft times false...

Sennheiser MX-980 Review - Elegance and power in a small package.

Yeah I was a bit disappointed and shocked that it actually managed to kill them.  They sounded great, sadly it seems the internals were not quite as strong as everything else.     I may give them a second chance later on at a lower price point.  But right now having $200 earbuds killed by an...

    Sennheiser MX 980 Expression

Well guys I ended up returning these on Amazon.     I went to work one day and accidentally blasted music through my iPhone into the headphones  (and my own ears) and the left driver began rattling from then on.     So I gave up on them.

Sennheiser MX-980 Review - Elegance and power in a small package.

I gave these a glowing review earlier.  But I returned them a week ago.   I thought external durability was great.   Sadly a slight blast of unamped high volume music on an iPhone destroyed these headphones.  And the damn left bud began rattling.

    Sennheiser MX 980 Expression

Just got the MX980's in today.  Straight out of the box they sound fantastic.  They have simply the most beautiful highs I've heard on headphones.   I'm also an owner of the Denon AH-D2000, Sennheiser HD280Pro, AKG K81DJ's, Yuin PK3, and Yuin G2A.   So as you can see I like my bass...

How long should I burn in Denon D2000?

This babies sound pretty good already, but how long do you guys recommend burning these things in before giving it a real listen?

Excellent portable headphones for those of us...phobic of sticking things in your ear canal. ;)

The K81's came in yesterday, and I've been burning them in for about 30 hours now. Gave them a little listen for a few minutes. The bass doesn't reach down as far as the HD280 Pro, but it is damn overtly present. A bit too much. But I have to say, for most classical/orchestral music it's...

Excellent portable headphones for those of us...phobic of sticking things in your ear canal. ;)

Alright so I've gotten both the K81 DJ's and the Yuin OK2. I'll try out both and see which one is best for my needs. Hopefully Head-Direct has a good return policy. I doubt any amp will do much for the OK2, but I have a Fiio E5 hanging around, think that will do much for the K81's? Or will it...

Hmmm, could I not get better sound by getting portable headphones vs. earphones?

Excellent portable headphones for those of us...phobic of sticking things in your ear canal. ;)

Ear buds (sorta) and collapsible headphones basically are good. IEM's....are not. I don't like sticking things inside my ears. Mainly listen to classical and soundtracks. Budget? ~$100. Recommend me away!

Where to go from HD280s for classical/soundtracks

Honestly, the only times I've found myself using headphones has been on computers, and I also have an iBasso D2 at the moment. Though that seems as though it wouldn't cut it for the K701. I honestly don't know. As for the budget...I probably don't want go over $350 in the immediate term, but...

Where to go from HD280s for classical/soundtracks

I'm looking at the HD650's specs...and good god, this thing sounds like it needs to be shipped with an amp in order to even qualify for half the manufacturers claims! So I'm also seeing the AKG K701's for about...well ~$200 less than than the HD650 and they seem to be competitors. It seems if...

Where to go from HD280s for classical/soundtracks

~$150-250. I can go more or less if there is enough value for money.

Where to go from HD280s for classical/soundtracks

I'm relatively new and inexperienced in the world of headphones..but I have a great deal of experience with many types of....well... biblical speakers, and that very profoundly shifts my attitude when it comes to headphones that I like. At the same time, you just need the headphones sometime...
