Does this have an amp in it (drum sound module)?
Quick question, Im more curious than anything. I have a Roland Electric Drum set, with a V Drum TD6V sound module hooked up to it. All together it was somewhere around $1k, maybe $1.1k, so some pretty expensive stuff. I believe the sound module itself it $600+. Anyways, Im quasi-in the...- sackynut

My initial Ultrasone HFI 450 impressions
So I just pulled the credit card trigger on some Ultrasone HFI450's from Guitar center. They were $100, and Im using them unamped from my laptop sound card. Pretty basic. 20-20000hz freq range 96dB efficiency 32 ohm impedance. Build/Construction Pretty solid, plastic headphones. Well...- sackynut

Why no info on the Ultrasone 450?
I believe these are at almost every guitar center. They are only on ultrasone.com, and not ultrasoneusa.com. And I can hardly find them online on a site that ships to the USA. Weird? For the price, I would expect there to be a lot more information (especially on this site) about these cans...- sackynut

Studio Headphones ~100 or less
Just a quick general consensus. Im looking for a pair of decent studio headphones that I will be using to make amateur music at home. -Preferrably flat sound (a tiny bass hump is fine) -Durable - ~$100 or less - Can be easily driven by my sound card (which is a creative x-fi platinum.) -...- sackynut

How does smoke/pets affect headphones?
This could have been answered and I didnt search well enough, and I will delete the post. But I always see on the for-sale forums people letting you know that their headphones were kept in a non smoke or non pet environment. Just how do these separate variables negatively affect the headphone...- sackynut

What audio software to choose?
Hopefully this is the "best" forum for this thread. Im going to be buying some new software soon to record and edit audio. What I am looking for is something like Apple's Garage Band, but with more features. So what I mean is: 1. Easy connection with MIDI controller such as keyboard 2... -
My Sony MDR-D777LP Impressions (pics)
I was browsing around amazon last week when I came across the sony Altus MDR-D777Lp headphones for $30. Although I read they are not worth the $150 asking price, $30 seemed like a deal. So they finally came. Here are my pre-burn in impressions. I know there are some other reviews around on...- sackynut

Headphones for you D&Ber's
So I was sitting at my computer the other night with my Audio Technica ATH A700's on, listening to an Ill.Skillz remix of a song called Remember Me. And it made me think about why I really buy headphones so much. Its about the music. Its always been about that. Although my ATH-A700's arent... -
MDR-D777LP for $20 worth it?
I had my mind set on buying some Sennheiser HD215's as my new "at home/bed" cans, when I came across this smokin' deal. Amazon.com: Sony MDR-D777LP Altus Stereo Headphones: Electronics Although these headphones were known for being worth approx $60 less than they were sold for ($150), $20...- sackynut

How is Pioneer held here?
Im curious as to how Pioneer headphones (amped or unamped, just in general) are hled here. How are they GENERALLY (I know they have many different cans) looked at? I read somewhere they tend to be bright. Other reviews have said good things. Im looking to buy some SE-M380's and I was just...- sackynut

total airhead for A700's
Ive been looking for a new pair of cans Im going to take to college, but decided to continue using my A700s and get an amp to power them (ive been powering them with an iPod video when I go to sleep.) Getting some closed headphones!
Im in the market for a solid pair of closed (preferably circumaural) headphones. I dont mind a pair for Supra-aurals, but they have to be comfy as hell! The current cans Im looking at are (ironically all supra-aural): Audio Technia SJ5's ($60 on audio cubes) Philips SHL9600 DJ (I would...- sackynut

"re-cable" HD485
The HD485's have a detachable 10 foot cable, and I am purchasing a pair soon. I was wondering, if I wanted to buy a 4-5 foot cable, that I could attach for more portability, what would be the best cable to purchase, to keep maximum sound fidelity/quality? or does it even matter that much...- sackynut

external sounds affecting drivers?
If this has been answered, or is common knowledge let me know. Ill delete the thread I guess. Can external sounds affect and possibly damage speaker drivers on headphones (especially open aired ones)? For example, if you took some PX100s to a construction zone and was listening to music...- sackynut

Need help choosing HD485 or HD555
Im looking for a good new pair of phones for home entertainment, and mainly listening to music as I go to sleep. [ATH-ON3 or ATH-SJ5] Vs. PX100
Ive read around on the site about opinions, and it seems the SJ5's may beat out the ON3's in quality by a slight margin. Although the ON3's definitely win in comfort. As far as portables go I have a pair of PX100's and a pair of ATH-SJ3's. My SJ3's I generally use on my laptop, and Im not...- sackynut

Square Wave damaging speaker/driver
I know a fair amount of stuff on speakers and audio and such, but I was just inquiring about this. I was in a makeshift studio today working in pro tools. I added the "signal generator" insert and fooled around with it. When I put the "wave type" to square, and when i oscillated the...- sackynut

Old Vs. New px 100
Hopefully this post isnt really dumb or something, if so delete it. Im just wondering if Sennheiser changed their design for the px 100 over time. I just purchased a pair off of newegg.com and fell in love with them. After listening to my friends pair, that he has owned for quite close...- sackynut
