What Artist Takes Up The Most Space In Your CD Collection?
I've got a few favorites. Once I find an artist/group I like, I tend to sort of "splurge" on them for a while. Bill Evans and the Grateful Dead have been multi-year splurges! Group - #CD's Rock: Grateful Dead - 176 (soon to be 186 when the Complete Fillmore set arrives ) Phish - 81... -
IPOD - file management
For all you IPOD owners out there, I have a couple of questions. I just ordered a 20G IPOD (4th gen with click wheel, non-color) from amazon. My daughter has an IPOD Shuffle, so I'm only a little familiar with IPOD protocols. 1. Are you forced to synch the daddy 20G IPOD to one (and only one)...- Lindy

Top 2000 Critically Acclaimed Albums of All Time
For those of you who like lists, this is about the biggest one I've ever seen. There's a bunch of other interesting lists there as well. I find a comparison of the US list vs the UK list interesting. To get to the big list, click on the words "All Time" in the upper left-hand corner of their... -
Mother damages fetus' hearing with loud tapes
To any expectant mothers out there (and any helpful future fathers) -- don't play music (or "educational tapes" as in this example) too loudly against mom's abdomen. It damaged this baby's hearing. I've heard that some music can be helpful, but this lady took it overboard. Seen on...- Lindy

Los Lonely Boys
Anybody heard this CD? It's a group of three brothers out of Austin, TX -- supposedly Willie Nelson's "favorite local band". The date on the back cover says 2003, but the first I heard them was at a listening station in a CD store. Great stuff! It sounds like a cross between Santana... -
Favorite SNL quote or sketch?
What's your favorite SNL quote or sketch? I have many, but my favorite is easily the following: "...and I will be doing myself a disservice if I don't play the hell outta this!" Will Ferrell playing the COWBELL in SNL's version of VH1's Behind the Music Blue Oyster Cult. Christopher...- Lindy

100 Albums You Should Remove from Your Collection Immediately
This is worth a good laugh. I personally own 25-30 of the recordings on this list. They're right about a few of them IMO, but many / most of them don't belong on the list. 100 Albums You Should Remove from Your Collection Immediately ps Don't read this if you're easily offended by... -
25 Must-have Jazz CD's (Piano-centric)
How's that for painting myself into a corner? Out of the approximately 750 jazz CD's I own, these are my favorite piano-centric recordings. If you're familiar with any of these recordings, I think you'll see that I'm a sucker for melody and harmony. I have personally seen 7 of the artists... -
What are your ratios?
What are your ratios? I've been accused by some of my friends of having ratios that are "way out of wack". This is really a follow-up question to the "How Many CD's Do You Own" thread. I'll go first. I tend to use pretty broad categories when archiving my CD's. Please feel free to use your... -
Any Dick's Picks Fans?
Any Grateful Dead "Dick's Picks" fans out there? I'm looking for some recommendations on which ones to order next. I like #10 very much (12/29/77 Winterland Arena). Also #23 (9/17/72 Baltimore Civic Center) has kind of grown on me. I'd have to say that #16 (11/8/69 Fillmore Auditorium) is not... -

MG-Head 12AX7 Tube Substitutions?
To: MG-Head tube rollers et al I already have some 12AX7's and some 5751's for my mg-head. They sound great, but I'd like to experiment a little more. Question: Is it ok to use some of the other tubes that I've seen in tube substitution tables (e.g. 12AT7, 12AY7, 12AU7, 12AV7)? Do I risk...- Lindy
