Best Smartphone for audiophile Part II (Updated: Jan 2020)
Using LG G7 from 2019 and recently even replaced the battery. However, Android 10 is kind of a limitation to me and I'm thinking of what to do with it. As I understand flashing custom ROM with Android 13 will disable quad DAC, making no sense to do so. Is it reasonable to buy used US LG G8 for...- Cortlendt

ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF
Is it possible to do magnesium chassis upgrade after you've bought them? Atticus is definitely a keeper, a tad too heavy for long sessions for me.- Cortlendt

I would not recommend thick angled pads due to being overly bright and sibilant. As far as I remember bass was ok.- Cortlendt

After a day long testing I've managed to pin point some kind of sibilance, that ruins the sound. Almost the same thing manifests on my Fostex T50RP with deep pads as well. I wonder if pads with depth close to original ones will work.- Cortlendt

These are totally synthetic leather, even though, original pads that I've got are deformed and don't provide good seal. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32856091824.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.4d3d4c4dqvaCbv After a few hours of listening I'm liking the sound.- Cortlendt

A simple awl seems to do the trick. I have, actually, deep and angled Brainwavz HM5 pads I've bought for my Fostex T50RP. Took less 10 minutes to replace. Its to early to jump to any conclusions about the sound, but I do not notice anything out of order.- Cortlendt

Thanks, but thats US only, best alternative should be Brainwavz HM5 Pads from Aliexpress? How do you make holes to mount the pads? Drill?- Cortlendt

A similar question - what about some "affordable" cable with 2.5mm cup connectors for Hifiman series? Does not look sturdy, but should be ok for desk use.- Cortlendt

Hmm, I have some cables for HE400i with 2.5mm connectors, but they are not balanced. Do you think this kind of adapter could work?- Cortlendt

Responses are much appreciated. I've called the trigger on refurbished ones from Saturday Audio. Let's see how they do compare to my Atticus, AFC and modded T50RPs. BTW, can anyone recommend affordable balanced cable for Nightowl?- Cortlendt

I'm considering purchasing them and will be grateful for a few questions answered" How good is isolation on Nightowls for office use? What are closest competitors? Meze 99 Classics? Do they have trebles spikes and cause fatigue?- Cortlendt

AEON, MrSpeakers' New Closed Back Planar Magnetic Headphone
Did anyone had any problems with the stock cable? I've purchased AFC this fall and gradually lost the right channel after light office use. Is it possible to repair? I think the problem is near the cup connector. Are there any inexpensive aftermarket alternatives? Is this covered by warranty...- Cortlendt

AEON, MrSpeakers' New Closed Back Planar Magnetic Headphone
I've got AFC for office use and they are in transit. My main criteria were: 1. Closed with good isolation 2. Light and comfortable enough 3. Sub 1000 Had Audeze EL-8C, sound was good for me but weight was just too much for me. Was considering Audeze Sine but it has a lot of reported comfort...- Cortlendt
