So, I have had some quality listening sessions with my new to me Atticus, and I have to say that the mids are perfection. I absolutely love this headphone, and it just might be my new number 1. I actually think I like the Atticus more than my Aeolus and Ori, and that is one statement I thought I would never make. There is just this magical euphoric texture and clarity in the mids that immediately sucks me in, and then you have the impact from the midbass and it is pure perfection for my ears. I listen to a lot of acoustic stuff with guitars and banjos, and the Atticus mids are so perfect for this kind of music, that I really can't imagine it sounding any better. The realistic and natural timbre of this headphone is very impressive. Also, they sound incredible with my Bottlehead Crack Speedball, and especially with my latest tube roll. I am running a Bendix 6080WB Slotted Plate, and a Siemens ECC82 Chrome Plate, and this combo is stunning with the Atticus.

I have a BHC on the way (hopefully in the mail this week). I will have to check out this tube combo once I receive it and spend some time with the stock tubes.

I am currently running the LCx+SDAC singled-ended until today. While I have heard The Atticus doesn't really care about SE or Balanced, I do know this Amp is much better balanced. New balanced cable from Periapt has made a difference.

That is the key IMO...balanced isn't necessarily better in and of itself, it depends on the amp & how it was designed. Enjoy!!

True that. On tube amp, I run SE from DAC to amp to Eikon / auteur. Even though I could run balanced all the way to headphone, SE is best with this amp.

Thanks for the tip! I am really thinking about ordering a Glenn, and will keep an eye out for that tube. I have some killer 12au7's and 6SN7, but not any ecc32.

afraid I'm going to have to let my beloved first amazing headphones go the eikon. But only because it's more sentimental that I've held onto them while theyv'e sat unused in their box for so long. They are the ones that led me onto this magical journey just before I had just about given up. Thanks for all the help, Zach, and your pure and dedicated service. I also appreciate all the invaluable insight I have recieved from the mebers in the zmf threads. So now I'm onto the for sale section and I will be putting them up for an extremely reasonable price if anyone is interested.

I can't see myself ever selling my Atticus, but I guess that is one of those things you believe until it happens. What was your replacement for the Eikons?

Is it possible to do magnesium chassis upgrade after you've bought them? Atticus is definitely a keeper, a tad too heavy for long sessions for me.
