DT 770 pro 80 too much bass
Actually the DT770 Pro 80 doesn't have too much bass after it is ran in, or having ample power in supply. Another easy fix is the damping ring mod. Just remove the damping ring around the driver and the bass will be less, you also get more detail and bigger soundstage...- AlfredWong

beyerdynamic T5p: Photos and first impressions.
Quote: In fact, the cost of manufacturing an OCC cable can surpass the material cost of the driver unit. You pay for the R&D and tech cost for the headphone driver. While I really really like Beyer headphones, I can't compliment on the cable quality. It is known that the manufacturers...- AlfredWong

Any cheap headphones?
Quote: Haven't play with the Monoprice, but if the choice are between this particular model of Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic, the DT235 definitely flare better; and I would get the PX-100 from Sennheiser if have to. The real thing is, I am so impressed by the PX100 and would get a pair later.- AlfredWong

Considering using my DT990s as a portable
If you are going to use your DT990 in office I think it is permissible. However if you mean portable that would not be a wise choice. For noise isolation you would need a closed headphone, in your case the DT770 Pro80 seems to be your best choice.- AlfredWong

beyerdynamic T5p: Photos and first impressions.
Quote: Ah yes, the T5p has a much, much tighter attachment to the cup than the other models. Grab some tools to pick it out, but you gonna make some cosmetic scratch even with the best of care. You would also like to check on the diameter of your replacement cable and the original cable...- AlfredWong

beyerdynamic T5p: Photos and first impressions.
Quote: Not hard. Taking off the cups are optional but will make the process much easier. Remove the pads, remove the holding frame, remove the driver, cut the cable, remove the metal band holding the cable. I bet you know the rest. Beyerdynamic has some of the most sensible design in the...- AlfredWong

Hi, the T5p has been using a replacement headband awaiting restoration, while both got recabled to 18awg occ cable. Was expecting some attention to the wallpaper tho!- AlfredWong

beyerdynamic T5p: Photos and first impressions.
After much listening, I confirm that T1 is a superior headphone to T5p in a silent, ideal environment. There are quite some constrain on the T1 however, in noise isolation, power requirement, etc. If you are listening it with an amp in your own room, then T1 is superior. But if you are at the...- AlfredWong

Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro Review
Quote: Forgot to mention, I swapped the cable to Neotech OCC , dunno if it's the reason. Btw, the Greater China distributor gave-away the first 88 pairs with an upgrade cable from Dynamique... sounded better than the stock, much. Also, the COP driver size/interior room is much bigger...- AlfredWong

Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro Review
Have to raise this thread. As a owner of various beyer headphone, I compare it to a T50p, it's kinda in the same route and does sound a step better than the T50p. Still running in, and improvement is very noticeable.- AlfredWong

Headphones dont sound as good when on low volume (HD650)
This is a certainly interesting topic, and I have put some times to study. One theory is that because the output power is not of constant at different volume, which the cans cannot perform as well. Even with amp this can happen, due to component used, etc. Gonna run ttyl.- AlfredWong

Girlfriend is looking for headphones
I actually do find the newer gen of Sennheiser sounded quite difference from the older gen. HD600/650 both have a more balanced and a lil dark sound on treb/mid/bass, while the newer gen, like Amperior/Momentum/558/598/700/800 has a very bright mids which make the treb/bass kind of went behind...- AlfredWong

Girlfriend is looking for headphones
Hi, For Open; Sennheiser HD650 Beyerdynamic T1 for Closed; Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro80 or the Limited Edition Pro32 As they do not sacrifice much of other apsects with their powerful bass, and still sound elegant as to the HD600.- AlfredWong

Approve/Deny my Upcoming Purchases
HD650 user here. If you are open-minded and wouldn't mind a little experiment, try getting a replacement cable made with cheap sommercable (i.e. Peacock), that won't cost you over $50, if you know soldering yourself then it's even cheaper. The cable is a damping factor, and the complimentary 6.3...- AlfredWong

Beyerdynamic DT-880, but closed?
Quote: While it is being described as is in the official website, I have directly confirmed with the Greater China distributor that, the driver parts for Pro/Consumer is not the same. I guess there are more tuning done on the same driver.- AlfredWong

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Quote: It just happened that I have a 21 awg OCC 3.5 to 3.5 cable (those used to connect source to portable amp) at hand. You need to hear the cable (unscientific!) or cut it open to see the real diameter of it. As long as the material is suitable (copper), thick enough (personally...- AlfredWong

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Just played a bit with the X1 today, and I am impressed. The stock cable definitely need to be changed, I still can't understand why the manufacturers are saving the cost in this sort of vital stuff? The connector is regular 3.5mm jack, win. It has a very friendly and balance sound, and I...- AlfredWong
