Forza AudioWorks Impressions Thread
Hey everyone. About to order my Forza cable soon for my Focal Utopias. Any thoughts on which cable is recommended? Yes, I know I can search the thread, and I did, but found only one reference for a Utopia here. Did someone compare to of Matez's cables on the Utopia and can share an impression...- matanoosh

Focal Utopia General Discussion
Hello everyone. For the life of me, I can't find a discussion about the differences in Utopias versions over the years since 2016. I understand the 2020 iteration mainly differ in the accessories? But are there any version of the Utopias where the headphone itself is changed? My biggest concern...- matanoosh

Beyer t5p recabling - help with finding the right cable.
Thanks, Jay. But I must confess I heard a significant positive difference with the cable I'm using now. It's just too bulky, too short and already has a lose connection with the plug. Any experience with recabling the t5p, anyone?- matanoosh

Beyer t5p recabling - help with finding the right cable.
Unfortunately myself because I live in Israel and any international exporting + import adventure is too much of a headache for me. Also, I have a friend who owns a stereo shop, has a lot of experience in repairing gear and I'm sure we can handle it ourselves. I already managed to disassemble the...- matanoosh

Beyer t5p recabling - help with finding the right cable.
Just replaced my t5p's pads with new DT770 pads. It's really cool - velour is much more comfortable than the stock leather or leather-like cushions. The headphones are also recabled now with an Oyaide interconnect cable (HWS-22W). Problem is that it's too short and too damn heavy...- matanoosh

Upgraded replacement pads for Beyerdynamic t5p
Hi everyone. Bought this pair last year and quite happy with the sound. Not happy, however, with the crappy earpads and the even crappier 3.5mm jack & cable. The latter was taken care of. Any ideas for good replacement pads for the factory stock pads, which are damn reluctant to stay on...- matanoosh

Thanks! Yes, I was planning to use two runs. In this case, I don't have to use the shielding, right? -Matan -
Using OYAIDE interconnects as headphone cables
Went into a Russian hi-fi shop in St. Petersburg a few days ago while on a visit to my gf's family, and saw they're selling Oyaide cable (HWS-22W) which appears to be designed as an interconnect, for headphone cable use. Is this proper? I'm all hot for Oyaide products. Is there any...- matanoosh

Upgrading Beyer t5p cable
Hi everyone. Bought myself a pair of those a few weeks ago, and I enjoy listening mainly via my iQube v2. Alas, yesterday I started experiencing disconnections of the right side. Apparently, there's a bad contact in the cable. So, I thought to myself, what a perfect time to replace it...- matanoosh

Beta 22 to ATH-W5000

Beta 22 to ATH-W5000
Hi guys. I'm considering building a Beta22 amp to match my W5000, for the lack of any other suitable amp that does them justice that I could listen to. (I tried WOO 6, Corda Opera and a few DIY's [which proved to be the most successful of the bunch]). Does anyone have experience with this...- matanoosh

Meier Opera for my W5000
Guys (& girls), I need your help. A friendly recently loaned a Corda Aria for a few days. While the amp section is not bad and pairs nicely with my W5000, the DAC is hardly satisfying. I'm looking for an integrated Amp+Dac single box and since I liked the Corda's signature, I'm seriously...- matanoosh

Do headphones matter when choosing a source?
worrying between amp and headphones synergy makes a lot more sense than headphones / source. components that do not have direct contact suffer less from synergy problems. However, this does NOT mean that a source will definitely work well with your rig. It might not fit there, not necessarily...- matanoosh

DAC necessary for little dot mkII?
Well, for now you can simply connect it via the headphones plug. a 3.5" plug on one end, and double RCA connectors to connect to your amp on the other. Not the best solution, though, but it WILL work. In the future, where new funds become availlable, consider buying a cool DAC that will...- matanoosh

Is my setup "Hi-Fi" - Opinions Please...
dude, that's a dumb question. but it's ok, dumb questions are also legitimate. I'll try to give you a different perspective: Instead of asking yourself if your schlong can fit into the highly prestigious club of "hi-fi" schlongs, I'd ask a different question: ARE YOU ENJOYING THE SOUND that...- matanoosh

USB Laptop on battery vs Sound card in a pc. Such a huge difference. Why?
the good people here all have good ideas as to why the sound differs so much. imo, ultimately, the transport system (i.e. your computer) is so complex that there's a myriad of reasons as to why these discrepancies occur. ultimately, the only conclusion that can be derived here, I think, is that...- matanoosh

What to upgrade for my computer audio?
it depends what you're trying to accomplish. if you want a more involving GAMING experience, then I'd take the receiver people's advise. If you want a better SOUND experience, then - by all means - add an amp to chain. don't forget good cables later on down the road.- matanoosh

the importance of bypassing the kmixer
I join the rest of the bunch - sound quality definitely improves, even more-so with WASAPI (Vista). Of course it depends on the rest of your other components. Although I support the notion that source improvements are always audible, maybe your system is not transparent enough to reflect the...- matanoosh
