All things Metrum Acoustics
it's my fourth metrum/sonnet dac... probably my favorite. why? cuz in the past there's always an upgrade in sound when upgrading the psu. altho i am not certain hdplex would be an upgrade. it's certainly bigger.- viggen

All things Metrum Acoustics
I am enjoying a second hand Octave MK1. Am wondering whether I could power the DAC with a HDPLEX300 set at 9v DC output using one of these cables? edit: nvm it's 9v AC not DC.- viggen

MHDT Labs: R-2R NOS Tube DACs
i have the xspdif2 and haven't noticed a change when powering it with hdplex's 9v dc. however, i also have the matrix H usb card and it does benefit from external psu. tho, as i understand it, these two devices are not actually powered by external psu. when i had the orchid, i didn't use a...- viggen

NOS DAC better than Nobsound TDA1387??
stream of consciousness update. received 1794 dac earlier this week. first few days of listening, comparing to 1563 dac, highs more energetic, definitely more mid highs centric. more frequency flat than 1563 but definitely not flatter sounding than 1563. i still prefer 1563 due to it having...- viggen

NOS DAC better than Nobsound TDA1387??
for me, i already own a few pretty good to great lpsus so getting a built dac with dc input is an instant upgrade. so that's why i am aiming for these NOS dacs with dc input. whereas, the boards and modules... i don't have electronic background to build them safely or effectively. the 1543...- viggen

NOS DAC better than Nobsound TDA1387??
I wish I knew what to do with all them boards and modules... but am deciding to get the 1794 all in one device in lieu of a Merason atm. both using the same dac chip but Mersason is not using a pair.- viggen

NOS DAC better than Nobsound TDA1387??
Thanks for that. I guess that means the dac can improve a lot more cuz, even with the cheapo parts, the sound is absolutely lovely.- viggen

NOS DAC better than Nobsound TDA1387??
Currently using this 1543 DAC and has become my dac du jour. Here's a pic of it with the top removed: Am powering it with HDPLEX 300's 12v 10amp output with a Ghent DC25 cable. I'd love to try a 12v DC powered 1541 but don't think they exist. But, am awaiting this 1794 dac's arrival.- viggen

Sonnet Digital Audio: New kid on the block, well.. not really!
Anyone know how to acquire a budget RJ45 cable to connect between Denafrips DDC and Sonnet DAC? I have a chance to guy the Cardas Clear made by Audio Art but I don't want to spend more than $150 on a digital cable. Only other solution I am aware of is the Phasure i2s cable.- viggen

Just to be clear, Denafrips ddc works with Sonnet i2s input without buying a specially configured rj45 cable?- viggen

Soon to be... LTA R2R DAC
It's a dissapointment to me and others who I know personally. I recently reacquired the Ares2 and it now has a brushed metal face. Wanted to try another R2R transistor dac since I liked the way Morpheus sounded but didn't want to get it again.- viggen

Does the Morpheus' personality change when plugging it into a DDC? IME, DDC alters the DAC's sound very drastically. Case in point, every dac i plugged into the SU-6 sounds like a SDA-2 clone. And, I didn't like the SDA-2.- viggen

Sonnet Digital Audio: New kid on the block, well.. not really!
Happy too soon. I just noticed this behavior. During and after I use the dac's volume control, the right channel is about 5db louder. Some time afterwards, both channels will sound even again if I leave the volume at -0db. But, once I use the volume control again, the right channel again is...- viggen
