Please excuse me if this has been asked before, but does the Zenith work with DSD Native in Roon into Chord dacs, or do you have to use DoP?- danish71

It’s been many weeks since I reported this problem with Native DSD, both in this thread and at Chords technical support. It’s kind of a relief to know that I am not the only one having this problem. The DAVE alone has no problem with Native DSD out of Roon, but Chord keeps telling me that there...- danish71

That is not correct about Chord. TT2 and DAVE offer XLR out as well as RCA. But they are still single ended designs. I have Merging NADAC MC8 too, which offers XLR out for all 8 channels.- danish71

YES, to my ears the 750u brings more texture and dynamics to the sound. I don’t believe in the dogma of keeping the signal path as short as possible, which is a very popular theory. My uneducated opinion is that what matters is how the signal is handled in the signal path, and I believe that...- danish71

Here is an excerpt from the review at highfidelity.pl: “The P-750u is a balanced design, from input to output. However, it is also possible to use combinations of balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs, which is possible because of use of a circuit that symmetries or de- symmetries signal...- danish71

I run a Chord DAVE through a 900u to the 750p via balanced, so I can control volume from the remote. Sounds very good.- danish71

I don't see why you should cancel your order on the TT2. The quality of the DAC is fundamental. The M Scaler is not a DAC, so it is like comparing oranges to apples.- danish71

I have a Dave hooked up to an M Scaler, but your experience mirrors my experience 100%. I have been thinking of explanations to why it is so hard to hear a difference between full 1M taps and pass-through - I guess as an attempt to justify the purchase, in my case 2 M Scalers. Some of my...- danish71

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
The further you move up the Chord ladder, the better the sound. It's not isolated to the question of how difficult loads the DAC can drive, IMO. It is mainly about sheer sound quality. Additionally there are factors like ergonomics and pride of ownership. The latter if you are a true audiophile ;-)- danish71

I didn't buy the TT2 for a second setup, which was my original plan, so I never listened to it. But my very biased opinion would be to go for the Dave and save up for an M Scaler. But again, it depends on what kind of audiophile you are. If you are addicted to the best, then there is no doubt in...- danish71

Thanks for adding some nuance to my statements, and the car analogy is good. I can only agree with you, but I believe "beat" has been used before in remarks stating that some <other Chord model than Dave> plus HMS would "outperform" the solo Dave. There have even been posts "ranking" H2+HMS and...- danish71

I absolutely do understand that the digital side of the H2+HMS is technically better than the digital side of the solo Dave, but the resulting sound is a product of the whole DAC, not just one of it's parts. Improving the digital part of the H2, does not improve it's analog OP stage, which is...- danish71

Professional musicians do not necessarily listen in the same way or listen for the same things in music as audiophiles. I know only very few musicians that are really into hifi. The M Scaler upscales no matter the DAC you connect it to. The question is only, if your DAC supports the sample rate it is putting out. If not = no sound.- danish71

Do you use a special toslink cable, or is it the one that comes with the M Scaler? Since you have found it worthwhile to spend a bit extra on BNC and HP cables, it would be reasonable to believe that you may have found some benefits in upgrading the optical connection as well?- danish71
