Sony MDR-1000x - earpad replacement & mod
I have the WH 1000X M2, which I think have the same ear pads as the MDR 1000X. I like them but they do get a bit warm and uncomfortable, even after relatively short periods. I wonder if the Sony H.ear on 2 pads have the same attachments and would fit? A comparison review I saw said the H.ear...- Canaudio

Don't be shy, contact us directly with problems with your FiiO!
I purchased my Fiio X5ii in December last year after owning a first gen X5 for several years. I was happy with the improved sound quality, form factor and display on the 2nd gen X5. After several months of light use the scroll wheel became jumpy and unpredictable- it would move the highlight in... -

The scroll wheel on my X5 II is getting jumpy; it's harder to control and bounces around more. Anyone else having this problem?- Canaudio

Official X5 2nd gen beta firmware download and discussion thread--version 1.27: library search function, replaygain, filter options
I'm really hoping for a cross feed function similar to that found in the Neutron player app. It would be a big improvement. -
Android: Neutron Music Player
I have a Fiio X5 as my main player. I bought Neutron for my BlackBerry Z10. It's a native app from Bbw. My music is all lossless Flac with a lot of 24 bit, high resolution albums. The Neutron plays these files in native resolution. I don't use eq on either device and the SQ on the Neutron /...- Canaudio

X5 - New Firmware: Suggestions (other than Playlist features)
I am very happy with the improvements thus far. I'm enjoying 2.4, but I am using the "Modern Simplicity" modded firmware - it does a much better job of displaying album art. I would like to see a "crossfeed" adjustment added, similar to the one used by the Neutron Music Player app. This... -
The Fiio X5 Thread
Since this is the thread where everybody states their "must haves" and wish lists, here's mine - I want an adjustable cross-feed function. I don't care about having eq adjustments but cross-feed makes a difference on material with unnatural stereo separation that was not mixed with headphones...- Canaudio

FiiO X5 proposed new functionality: add whole folders to playlist; auto-advance playback through folders
A new request; After using the Neutron music player app on my Blackberry Z10 I find that it has a feature I want on my X5 - the ability to enable and adjust crossfeed; this makes a big difference with head phones, especially so with the mastering and stereo separation on particular albums... -

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player
Same here. Initially I was a big HD Tracks booster, but I have become a much more cautious and sceptical consumer after a few expensive and essentially worthless purchases. Also recent changes to their website and ordering process are unfriendly to foreign (Canadian) buyers. Now if I want to...- Canaudio

The Fiio X5 Thread
I don't have any Mac experience so I can't help on that front, but have you tried resurrecting your defunct sd cards with partitioning/formatting software like GParted? Using this to remove the existing partition, then creating a new partition and formatting it may fix your sd card problem. ...- Canaudio

The Fiio X5 Thread
The stuttering problem is firmware version independent, also unrelated to format method, also not related to tags; these are some the factors I excluded before arriving at a tentative conclusion.- Canaudio

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player
You are missing the point. Leave aside the debate about whether or not we can discern the difference between resolutions. An up sampled file cannot sound better than its source and selling such a file without disclosure is tantamount to fraud.- Canaudio

The Fiio X5 Thread
I reloaded the files on different AData cards with the same result. I believe that I eliminated all variables save for the brand of card, but based on olddude's experience, I guess my theory may be incorrect. I would, however, like to hear from Fiio about this issue .- Canaudio

The Fiio X5 Thread
X5 Stuttering issue: I have posted on this thread about problems with the X5 "stuttering" or skipping when playing 24 bit high resolution Flac files. I can now report that the issue of the stuttering has been solved, although I'm not sure I would say the problem is fully resolved. I...- Canaudio

Bose QC25 review (long flight experience included)
Yes saw that; don't agree with their assessment as to sound quality. I also saw this: http://gizmodo.com/5944636/the-best-noise-canceling-headphones and this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKAwjvttX_k- Canaudio

Bose QC25 review (long flight experience included)
Audio Technica ATH ANC-9. I found them to have better sound quality than the then current Bose, also played with a dead battery, unlike the Bose of the day. Noise cancellation perhaps slightly less effective, but still great with variable settings. Comfortable and well made. My biggest...- Canaudio

Bose QC25 review (long flight experience included)
You say in your review that: "Other Active Noise cancelling headphones were out of the question because they just cannot compete on comfort and noise reduction. The question was of sound signature and and improvements." That's presumptuous. i actually listened to a variety of active...- Canaudio

Help me pick out a Noise Canceling Headphone for travel, please!
Like you, I discovered that noise cancelling works. I ruled out Bose because of build quality issues and because I loathe their marketing tactics. I chose the Audio Technica ANC-9. Excellent noise cancelling (with 3 settings) perhaps slightly less effective than Bose, but with better sound...- Canaudio

FiiO X5 firmware 2.20 download and discussion
Like everyone else I'm tired of this endless SQ silliness, but there are still some real firmware issues and firmware improvements to be sorted out. The problem of poor playback/stuttering on 96khz/24bit files has NOT been fixed so we still have a high res player that can't properly play high... -
Recommendations - Over ears with isolation or noise cancelation as good as Bose QC15 that sound good?
I don't know about ear pads, but for good active noise cancellation and quite decent sound try the Audio Technica ATH ANC9. My only quibble is that I would like them to fit into a smaller case. Better sound and build quality than Bose; also you can listen to music when the battery is dead...- Canaudio

X5 - New Firmware: Suggestions (other than Playlist features)
Above all else - fix the playback problems with 24 bit, 96 khz (and higher) flac files. You can't call it a high res player if it won't consistently play high res files. I like the player, but this may become a deal breaker for me.
