Help Me Match My K601s With an Amp.
I've tried to like my K601s, but they just seem harsh and fatiguing. And I don't know what to do. Could this be a burn in issue? I don't have many hours on them. But, I also don't have a very good amp. I'm currently feeding them with a sub-par DAC/amp combo from a chinese hi fi diy outfit...- Bleuburd

Because, I accidentally broke two 19j6s about four months ago, and now I'm really worried about it.- Bleuburd

How does a cheap cmoy amd compare to the Fiio E3?
I've been wondering this same thing. I'm downsizing my portable setup and looking for a cheap amp to feed the line out of me ipod video/to drive my PFEs. Is a fiio e5 in the same league as a nice cmoy? I mean, even if it's not quite as good, it's $20 shipped.- Bleuburd

Phonak Warning
So, phonak says on the instructions and box of their pfes that listening for more than an hour a day can be dangerous for your hearing. Now, I don't listen at even slightly high levels, and I don't listen to anything 'loud' by nature. Should I be worried if I listen for five hours straight on a...- Bleuburd

Cowon D2 vs. Archos 5
Yeah, I saw those, but the largest capacity was 32gb. I can get up to 48 with the d2 (sdhc).- Bleuburd

Cowon D2 vs. Archos 5
Well, I really appreciate all the positive feedback on the d2. My wallet is aching now though. I just ordered my first real IEM, the phonak pfe. I'm firmly stopped from buying any other equipment for a while now though.- Bleuburd

Cowon D2 vs. Archos 5
Ok, D2 is sounding more and more plausible here. Because, currently I listen through the line out on my 5.5G ipod amped with a ibasso d2 boa. It's pretty nice, but I wanted my next portable player to sound good with iems unamped. Say PFEs + cowon d2. But, what no one has told me if the D2 is...- Bleuburd

Cowon D2 vs. Archos 5
I'm trying to find a player to replace my old 5.5 ipod. The D2 looks great, but the fact that it's got a 2.5" screen is kind of difficult for me to swallow. I mean, I want to use this thing with my fingers. 2.5" sounds like stylus only territory to me. Now, I know the cowon has a reputation for...- Bleuburd

IE6 at Newegg for $130 or Phonak PFE?
Ok, well. PFEs it is then. I was hoping to get everything in one place, since newegg had the d2, the flash memory that I'm upgrading it with, and the IE6s, but you're the second person who has said that PFEs will suit me better. Thanks for the help, Cheers- Bleuburd

IE6 at Newegg for $130 or Phonak PFE?
Hey all, As a fore word, let me say I know you guys hate 'help me choose threads', but as a complete IEM noob, I need the help, and I promise not to clog the tubes with any more pointless threads. I've been trying to make a decision on IEMs for some time now. I just saw the IE6 at newegg for...- Bleuburd

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Oh thank God, it's just an encoding snafu. I encoded my entire library in what I thought was V0 with XLD. It actually did VBR at like 30kbps, which obviously would sound like blown drivers. I'm gonna pull the starving student out of the trash, put it in a new enclosure, rewire it, and give this...- Bleuburd

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
I don't really feel like spending $100 right now. Especially on replacing cans that I thought I'd have for a while. Like I said. Maybe I'll pick up some pfes when I sell back my textbooks. I'm just really bummed out right now. I'll probably save the hd580s and replace the drivers later on, but...- Bleuburd

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Edit: Well, I rewired the mosfets and mixed up the drain and the source. The resulting current blew the drivers in my hd580s. I'm done. Sorry guys, this is crazy. I've lost money, the amp never worked, and now I have no reason to finish it. This is really upsetting. The hd580s where my only...- Bleuburd

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Ok, it's not the mosfets and it's not the pot. I fixed some wiring that I fouled up, and now I still have the same problem. I can't hear anything. When the pot is turned all the way up, then I can hear something faint, but it isn't at all listenable. Here are pics as requested. Sorry, they...- Bleuburd

Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp
Ok, when I plug in the headphones, the tubes get way less bright. I'm thinking that's why I'm hearing little to no sound. Even with the pot maxed out. I rewired the pot, so that isn't it. Can someone please help me!?!?- Bleuburd
