So, phonak says on the instructions and box of their pfes that listening for more than an hour a day can be dangerous for your hearing. Now, I don't listen at even slightly high levels, and I don't listen to anything 'loud' by nature. Should I be worried if I listen for five hours straight on a trip? I mean, I've done it before. This seems a little odd. What do you all think the general rule is for safety and IEMs?

If you have good judgment, then you can tell when you're listening too loudly. Set accordingly, then put the source on Hold mode, so you don't accidentally change the volume while sleeping.

I've seen "contents may be under pressure and dangerous" on 2L jugs of non-carbonated fruit juice before, so anything is possible.
