Gearbest and PayPal?
I was not sure that the PayPal rep was 100% accurate but it was weird enough that I ordered the headphones locally for a few more bucks. I have been verified in PayPal for eons and have been active with them in the last couple of weeks. Never any problems like this. I know of others who...- chinook9

Gearbest and PayPal?
I made a call to PayPal. While I was on the phone with them, I received an e-mail that appeared to be from PayPal. The Subject was ""my name" why your PayPal transaction was declined." The message was that I did not have a bank account linked to PayPal or needed to raise my limit. The...- chinook9

Sonarworks Headphone Calibration software
I have purchased the headphone plugin and have it working well on Windows 10 in Foobar. I'd like to use the plugin on my MacBook also but I don't want to have to buy JRiver. Does the plugin work with any of the free or relatively inexpensive music players for Mac?- chinook9

Sonarworks Headphone Calibration software
Thank you. I will probably try Yohng's VST adapter. I was having trouble with the Win 10 upgrade on that machine so I wiped it and did a complete new Win 10 install. I've got the plugin working but I can get the up-sampling to 24/192 to work. I can get a 192KHZ test tone but cant get 192Khz...- chinook9

Sonarworks Headphone Calibration software
I got the plugin working on a MacBook using JRiver but I want to try it on my Windows 10 laptop. Everything goes fine on the Windows 10 laptop until the activation. The only way I could see to activate the plugin was to highlight Sonarworks in the DSP Manager and click on "Configure...- chinook9

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
I agree with Bob on the value of this buy. I have owned a number of much more expensive headphones and these were a heck of a deal. I really enjoy them and they really get me going. I thought that the K7XX was a steal but I consider these X2 even moreso.- chinook9

I'm pretty sure mine was the only one available that just mentioned a blemish on the packaging. The description turned out to be correct and the blemish was hard to notice even.- chinook9

Mine was just like new. Not sure if it had ever been out of the box. I am thrilled with them. I have the LCD3 which is clearly more refined but the X2 really gets me involved.- chinook9

Pretty sure you won't find it. ifi apparently controls the price of their products pretty well. There was one on eBay a couple of months ago for a lot less but it was taken down after a couple of days. Good luck because it gets great reviews.- chinook9

Thanks you. Just ordered one. I was really impressed by the sound of the Uptown and Downtown a few years ago and I expect I will like the X2s. For other who don't want to spend quite that much, I just received and e-mail from Massdrop with the Fidelio L1 at $119.99. Don't know much...- chinook9

I am planning a trip to Hong Kong in a few months. Does anyone know the going price for Audio Technica Audio ATH AD2000X in Hong Kong. I believe that is one headphone that I can get in HK for much less than in US.- chinook9

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread
Thanks for the recommendation Oktyabr. I'll read up on all three. I expect I'll end up buying one or more AKGs. I figure as long as I get a decent price, I can always sell them and not lose too much. Thanks again.- chinook9

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread
I've had my K7XX for a couple of months now and I really enjoy the very wide soundstage and the spacing of the instruments....like the sound is coming from outside the headphone cups. In looking for something I'd like even more than the K7XX, the logical choice seems to be the AKG K812. ...- chinook9

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread
I expect the K7XX will work for you. I listen to them a lot primarily because of the soundstage. If possible, you should also listen to some Grado's. I believe the strength of the K7XX is the soundstage. I was surprised by it.- chinook9

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread
In choosing an amp for the K7XX go for the most power you can get. They really need power to bloom. Earlier in this thread I provided a link to an article describing a study that showed the K7XX really needs the power. The Matrix M-Stage, for instance is a really nice amp, and I'm sure it...- chinook9

At 300 ohms the Schiit Asgard 2 puts out 380mW. Sorry but I don't believe that is near enough to make the HD650 bloom.- chinook9

I wish you guys wouldn't make posts like this. I may have to buy a set. I had the HD650 for a couple of weeks and didn't think too much of them...thought they were veiled. However, the amp I had at that time had much less power than the amp (Burson Soloist) I have now and I may have to...- chinook9
