New Zealand Headphone Meet MK II, 2015 Ed.
Since @TonyNewman is bringing his V281, I might pass on lugging mine. :) I'll bring the small portable stuff. Hifi-M8, ALO Pan Am, Oppo HA 2, and some cans. Maybe the TH-X00 if people are interested.- NZheadcase

The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread
My comment was regarding the T5P, first generation, not the new version. If there was any confusion, my apologies. I have no experience with the 2nd gen, unfortunately. I stand by my suggestion though, that for the price of the original T5P, most would be better served by the combo I...- NZheadcase

The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread
No unfortunately not. It has a character all its own. While you will still get the Beyer sound, it is not as spacious as the T1 and the highs are not as refined. If you want a closed headphone that is closest to the refinement and openness of the T1, go TH900. Get's you more bass presence as...- NZheadcase

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
Please do keep us posted once you've had ample time to enjoy them. A closed-back Fidelio X-2> Hmmm, quite interesting. I think that may not be bad at all, really. I happen to like the X2 quite a lot. It does go a different direction compared to other comments about the sound sig here on...- NZheadcase

OPPO HA-2 Portable Headphone Amplifier/DAC Discussion Thread
I've used it many times with the original Burson Audio Soloist, and pair it very often with the ALO Pan Am. Very enjoyable for the music genres I listen to most. not the end all and be all, but allows for great flexibility. Some on this thread prefer the HA 2 over its big brother the HA 1 even.- NZheadcase

Violectric HPA V281 - Vorsprung durch Balanced (September 2023 Update: Limited Reissue Edition up for preorder!)
Thanks, yes that is the finest Belgian Ale in my experience. :) Limited though it may be. That is indeed the HD800, sharing the night with an LCD 2 rev 2. The HD800 on the balanced out is currently the most enjoyable I have experienced. There is a very palpable grip and control on the...- NZheadcase

Violectric HPA V281 - Vorsprung durch Balanced (September 2023 Update: Limited Reissue Edition up for preorder!)
Heard the same, but unfortunately could not source an HE6 where I'm at. Importing it would be a bit too much with duties right now, even at the discounted prices I see on Amazon. Still recovering from the V281-sized dent on my card. :P- NZheadcase

Violectric HPA V281 - Vorsprung durch Balanced (September 2023 Update: Limited Reissue Edition up for preorder!)
Kinda in the same boat, but not the Taurus, specifically. I'm leaning towards keeping my Burson Soloist for Classical, orchestral, Film scores and themes, etc. as a back-up. Need to do more A/B listening as well as extended listening sessions before I decide. My other gear will...- NZheadcase

Violectric HPA V281 - Vorsprung durch Balanced (September 2023 Update: Limited Reissue Edition up for preorder!)
Just a general comment about the state of things in my setup. The V281 has been with me close to a month now, and I am seriously enjoying it so far. I am THISCLOSE to saying I have finally found my end game. If I ever am able to tear myself from listening and enjoying this thing (and of course...- NZheadcase

Hey @yacobx. That's an Oppo HA-2 paired with A) Sony Experia Z on the Android/USB input, and B) an iPhone 4s on the iOS input. The Sony is for Tidal and FLAC files whilst the iOS is doing Spotify duty. The HA2 is driving the Fidelio X2.- NZheadcase

Violectric DAC V850 - General Discussion and Impressions Thread
Thanks for the reply. It looks like I will stick with the NAD M51 for a while longer. If the V850 goes for a nice price, I might consider it, or perhaps wait for the next gen Violectric DAC.- NZheadcase

Violectric DAC V850 - General Discussion and Impressions Thread
Thanks @gonzfi, that is most appreciated. I don't want to part with the NAD as I find it a great pairing with the Burson Soloist, which has been my main amp for the last few years. But if I'm getting the V281, I wanted to find out if the V850 would significantly outperform the NAD - or if it...- NZheadcase

Violectric DAC V850 - General Discussion and Impressions Thread
Hi Project86! Read you review of the v281, and based on that, it will be my end game amp (hopefully). I currently have the NAD M51, but im also considering the V850. Would you be able to comment on the differences, sonicaly, between the two? Do you think it worth getting the v850 alonside the NAD?- NZheadcase
