Mini-Review: JMoney replacement Leather Ear Pads for Denon D2000 D5000 D7000
I just put on the jmoney pads--it took less than 1 minute. I immediately prefer the sound. Tightens up the bass-exactly what I was looking for. The comfort, though, will take some getting used to. The smaller ear holes are not ideal for my big ears........- mrwinick

After getting some more info it became clear to me that 6bl7 tubes are NOT appropriate for the mpx3. (not a smart risk) The good news is that a TS 2c51 and 2x 6gu7's also sounds absolutely fantastic with the denons.- mrwinick

Anyone else amazed by how well the hd600 scale?

Anyone else amazed by how well the hd600 scale?
I bought the hd600 almost 6 years ago because the reviews were not only great, but the consensus was that as your components improve you can get more and more out of them. I've made a lot of changes over the years and with every change the 600's sound better and better. I don't believe I'm...- mrwinick

HOLY COW! tung sol 2c51 and western electric 6bl7 playing ZZ Top. yowza. I feel like I'm in a club in the front row and they are jamming. This is a marriage made in heaven for the Denon d7000's.- mrwinick

That is one nice looking amp. I'd be afraid to listen to it though. I might like it too..... Anyway, I just pulled the 2c51 and replaced it with a 6gu7. It's a little less exciting than the 2c51, but still packs a punch. Seems a little more 'distant' than the 2c51. Maybe more air? Seems to...- mrwinick

I consider the Supra to be customized/upgraded. The high voltage options and supposedly upgraded transformer options seem to have been a HUGE problem. After reading hundreds of posts I just am not sure that I came across problems with 'stock' ppx3 or mpx3's. Was your mpx3 stock? I've...- mrwinick

Yep. Maybe you can answer a related question for me. I've seen all the problems with the Extreme as well as with many highly customized/upgraded SP amps. Have there been reports of problems with stock ppx3 or mpx3 amps?- mrwinick

I think I'm probably just talking to myself, but I'll post what I've learned in case someone else is in a similar situation. The tubes I was using with the senn hd600's were not good with the denon d7000's. I switched out the 7119's for 5687's and the sound immediately improved. I was still less...- mrwinick

1 Awesome Headphone or Multiple Good headphones?
I'd suggest that there are multiple elements to a rig that need to be balanced. I wouldn't buy one $1500 headphone if that meant that I wouldn't be able to amp them properly. A great dac can also make a huge difference. You need everything to work together. I can tell you that senn hd600's scale...- mrwinick

Denon AH-D7000
I've been listening/burning in my 7000's for about 36 hours. A friend just stopped over with his d5000's and headroom micro stack for a little comparison. I didn't have a ton of time and I'm not great with descriptions anyway, but for what it's worth I thought the difference was interesting. The...- mrwinick
